A buddy of mine bought a brand new T3X Lite stainless and bought a brake from a local dealer. The thread is 1/2x28 with an APA Gen 3 The Answer tunable brake. It just seems to me that the 9/16 would be safer. IS THERE ENOUGH meat left on the barrel to be safe. Comments please.

I would say 1/2" thread on a .338 gun is woefully inadequate. Very weak.

Personally, I would refuse to cut 1/2” thread on a barrel with a .338bore. I wont even do it on a .30cal.
I’m sure someone’s done it (.338) and haven’t blown up their rifle but it would be VERY poor practice.

My preference is 9/16x32 for muzzles too small to cut a 5/8” thread on.
If you want to try and salvage the brake, shoot me a pm. I can thread mill your brake to a larger size as well as thread your muzzle to suit.

I have done 1/2 x 28 on a 30 caliber... that has never been a problem... but I would hesitate doing a .338 with that size.
