T97 barrel life

Hi,

So I've been doing some research and it appears that the internets folklore says that T97 barrel is good for 6k-7k rounds.
Assuming this is correct, will replacement barrels be available (from CanAmmo obviously, or else I wouldn't post in this area)?

Would it be difficult to replace barrels on T97 as a DIY job?

thanks

That is your typical barrel life for a select fire, heavy duty use military rifle firing large capacity magazines, full or rapid semi auto fire. Slow fire with 5 round mags is a different kettle of fish. I would expect several times that number for barrel life, so I really wouldn't worry about having to change a barrel, at least for you, your kids or even your grand kids.

Did you factor in the fact that we have limited magazine capacity in other words we don't have 30 rounders to really warm th barrel up and heat is the main factor in barrel wear.

Im not sure but the barrel is probably pressed and pinned in.

Frankly i wouldnt worry about it. With 5 or 10 rds down the bore each mag change you ll be fine for 10 yr plus. Have fun with ur t97

Yep, I would guess the 6k-7k rounds refers to the "normal" T97 when used as a select-fire gun, more like a worst case scenario for military use.
Barrel is probably as good as an SKS barrel or better.

Reciever will wear out around 8 thousand id guess the rails will get worn too deep and crack. The barrel will be the only piece left to hand to your grand kids

From an educated guess based on the materials used you should see about 15k rds before things do downhill. My tavor is keyholing at 20k
