T97 gas adjustment

The manual doesn't explain much apart from your average safety rules and the disassembly.

I was interested in messing with the gas switch, I searched on google a bit and people mentioned a 0,1,2 selection.

What are they doing? I'm trying to avoid lobbing brass on everybody as well as collect them without denting the brass too much.

according to a review I read:

"3 position gas system. (0 for off, #1 for regular, and #2 for adverse running operation)"


Not sure what type of ammo you are using but #1 works just fine using multiple brands of 223 for me

T97 doesn't offer much in terms of gas selection. 0 is off, 1 is normal/trebuchet long, 2 is ICBM long.

Haha that is the truth. They cycle fine at least just hope you weren't wanting to reload your brass.

Correct. Your rifle becomes a straight pull bolt action. I suppose one could drill a small gas port, and progressivly drill it out larger to make a custom tuned gas setting for your rifle and obtain some sort of non multi-county linear path for brass ejection.

Correct. The 0 setting is for rifle grenades, directing all gas out the muzzle.
It might be fun to get some dummy rounds, I wonder if NATO ones would fit?

"1" reliably cycles the rifle and vents excess gas out the front of the rifle.
"2" Taps more gas and doesn't vent any excess. Not sure when you'd ever use the "2" position, maybe in extreme cold weather.
