Okay... so my lar mag barely fits into my new t97 gen2. Took 5 minutes of pulling to get it out. Am I doing something wrong?

The T97s have pretty tight magwells that are not friendly to after market magazines. The culprit is the "Spine" of the magazine well is too narrow. A few minutes with a handfile widening it will fix it. Just be sure to pull out the bolt hold open device to avoid damaging it. Unscrew the magazine release button and the hold-open tab will come out of a hole behind the mag well.

If you widen it too much you might cause feeding problems. You want the magazine to come out without undue effort, you don't want drop-free.

My C products polymer lar mags were the same. Super tight and took a real effort to come back out. I bought some metal lar mags after watching the vise fix video, haven't arrived yet but will update when they arrive.
The poly mags fit great in my AR so I will just use them for that.

Thanks... well rifle shoots really nicely with nice groupings. Would be good to iron out the mag issue.

Also still looking for anyone who has put a single point sling on a t97 and if so how

Metal LAR mags are tight in mine but come out. Most plastic don't like it.

Someone made an attachment for the lower pin for a single point sling.. maybe BC tactical?

Does anyone make anything to solve that issue? Make the gen2 magwell millspec?

All you can do is use a handfile to widen the "spine" of the well, as I described earlier, or alternately, modify the spine of your mags, narrow them until they fit.

Did you try checking the thread you made?

Don't really want to start filing on the firearm, esp without very detailed instructions, and I'm not sold on the legatilty of modifying a mad. That's why I'm asking about the availability of a proper solution.

There isn't a proper solution, the mag well is too narrow and cannot be replaced. So you need to

1) Modify the mag well. All this might do is void the warranty, but there isn't one, so whatever.
2) Modify your magazines
3) Buy a pile of mags and try them all to see which ones work.

To file the magwell, first you have to remove the magazine catch. You can do this by using pliers to unscrew the button.

Once the magazine catch is out, the bolt hold-open tab and spring will drop out of the middle hole behind the magazine well. It's fragile so it's important to remove it before you start.

Looking at the magwell from the bottom, This is the area you have to widen. Spend about 20 seconds on each side with a handfile, to keep it even, then insert a mag to check for fit. Repeat this process until you can pull the magazine out without undue effort. Don't worry about drop-free, that might remove too much and cause feeding issues. No point in having drop-free mags in this gun anyway.

I've done this with 3 rifles and it's worked every time. Makes them compatible with A LOT more mags.

I had a gen 1 type 97 and all mags worked (pmags gen 2, lar metal pistol mags, e-lander mags, GI metal mags, a polymer beowulf mag I had, hera arms mags), the only mags that did't work for me were gen 3 Pmags. They were too snug to fit in. I recently purchased a gen 2 and all of my mags fit including gen 3 pmags.
