Just read the article hour ago from Norinco: T97 Gen2 are ready coming to Canada.

The top one is Gen2

Seems they are using Keymod interface and Magazine release can be used from both side. Charging handle is not movable during shooting and also can be pulled from both side.

this rifle only works on 5.8 platform , the 223 version is a pos
feed ramp, mag well, gas port... all junk. half of t97s in this country pushes bullets back into cases. Plus ns will "take care" of you.

I must have been real lucky with mine then as she runs flawlessly, never an issue and with 62gr ammo quite accurate.

I try to tell people not to buy these things but they still do....... The common reply is, "It's cheap and it goes bang, so I don't see the problem". Well in a lot of cases it doesn't go bang and the warranty is terrible. Don't care if it's gen 5 I'd stay away from this

I think I'd sooner buy a Kel-Tec rifle than T97. I would then use it to smash them both to pieces.

Agreed strongly.
I wanted to like mine so much. But I started calling things like I see 'em more as I get older.
And the T97 was junk. I sold mine promptly.
Would love to how one works in its original Chinese caliber and config. I would bet it's a great rifle in that way.
