How are the T97's for mounting optics and is there any options out there for cheek risers or aftermarket stocks so you can actually get a cheekweld when using optics?

10 people had them before they were repoed from them by the government. The new ones aren't available yet. You won't get much of a answer.

The real question should be can they shoot bears in space?

Universals typically require drilling, which might not be such a hot idea on a brand new rifle. I'd probably try it out with a scope (set of low rings) before doing anything drastic to the rifle

I would lean towards an Aimpoint T1 or RMR on a low carry handle mount.

AFAIK the only 2 carry handle mount games in town are Clobb and CanAm. Clobb won't be selling his until the rifles hit the shore, hit the stores, get sold and are available for resale to our buddy Mike, from Canmore. You basically get a rail. I got a set of low 30mm CHrings to try my Visionking 1.25-5x26 CHscope on (similar to DMS), and if it works without clearance issues, I'll be going with Burris XTR 30mm low rings. Also ordered a set of medium CHrings just in case I'm getting eyepiece clearance issues.

I seem to recall that there was supposed to be a scope mount available with the batch of T-97s that CanAm brought in that were seized by Customs. I don't know if these mounts ever made it to Canada or if they were seized along with the guns.

I am guessing that CanAm might be able to give you an answer. I would kind of like to know myself because I have a deposit down on a CanAm T-97 (have had since '08 or '09, whenever the shipment was seized) and pre-ordered guns were supposed to come with a free mount.

Here it is https://www.canadaammo.com/product/detail/1014/type-97-sight-rail/ $50

I'm going to try my TRS-25 mounted on a Pic rail. This is the Aimpoint, same idea.

The Strikefire might work out as well, kind of high though. This is a Aimpoint clone:

I just handled the T97 over at Wanstalls.
Those guys are great BTW.

Anyways, I was pleasantly surprised that with the irons, I had to hunch down behind the sites, scrunching my chin down some into my chest. With a red-dot up top I can tell that it will still be a cheek weld situation, not a chin weld - and probably more comfortable for me personally. Pretty happy about this, I might even try a StrikeFire after all. The sight picture seemed a bit cloudy to me for irons.

Keep in mind I'm 6'4", everyone will fit the gun differently.
The quality on the finish was really nice and uniform - and the balance was great despite being heavier than I had imagined.

Still lighter than the tavor from what I experienced when I held the T97.

Well I personally handle the T97 in reliable today
I also compared it to tavor side by side (reliable has 2 tavor s in stock )
it seems little bit lighter than tavor but not by much

to be honest overall it don't come close to tavor by either design or building
quality ... But by only cost as less as 1/3 it has its own class

Bottom line Yes I will get one to play around with

So, are they avalible now???

By the way, would a 1/2" rise off the rail be a bit much for a proper cheek weld? I tested the rail with a typical tactical scope and if it has to be pushed forwards, 0.25" might be cutting it too close.
