I just got a new T97 this week and I have not been able to shoot 1 round! it will not feed rounds from the magazine. The bullet heads get pushed back into the case. I wasted 10 rounds like this. I tried the factory mag and a Black and Gray LAR15 mags and the same thing!

Any advice?

They have feeding issued with the LAR mags. You have to remember the rifle was originally design to take a AK mag, then was adapted to a AR-15 style mag. So it was more of a after thought.

I had this same problem for a bit on and off with my t97. The rounds would push the bullet back into the brass. It happened mostly with the factory mag but still sometimes with gen2 pmag and STANAG mags of all types, usgi, steel, Aluminium etc.. Also 4 different types of ammo. I narrowed it down to the feed ramps and emery clothed the hell out of where the bullet vears off the ramp when feeding. Have not had any problems since except very seldom still with the mag it came with, its too sloppy and wiggles too much changing the angle at which the bullet feeds and jamming it above your chamber instead of feeding properly in it. You will see marks/wear on your feed ramps where the rounds are hitting to be chambered, emery cloth in those spots. I guess like someone else said if you don't want to F with it you can always return it in the end, up to you.

Try a 5/30 mag. Gen2 pmags and D&H mags all work perfectly. Not all LAR mags are the same.
When you look in the breech, the tip of the top most round should be above the front face of the magwell. I've seen several with bad OEM mags & encountered some LAR brands that don't work.

If three is anyone else in your area with a T97, compare theirs with yours & try his mags.
if it still is a nogo, swap it out for another.

PM me if you are near me.

Shouldn't the extractor close all the way when the bullet is in the chamber? It does when the chamber is empty! This picture is with a bullet in the chamber.

I gave the rifle another cleaning and I think I have sorted it out now after working the action back and forth about 50 times. It will now chamber so I will test shoot it this weekend.

First.....Don't chamber live rounds in your living room.....
Second.... Have a gunsmith check it out before you fire it if rounds don't chamber properly....

this might not work for you and maybe its just luck for me....but when i first got my t97 i forgot to lube her up...it had the exact same problem, lubbed it up and havent had an issue since...it cycles a lot smoother now too lol

Make sure you put the spring and gas piston back together properly. Other wise it will not cycle properly, likely short stroke and may not even eject shells. Might be the issue.
