It took a long time, but I finally got my Tac 21 put together. this rifle feels even better than i imagined. Now if the weather ever warms up here in Sask I can take it out and see how it shoots. its mounted on a Remington 700 AAC SD 308. the Bushnell Elite 6500 is sitting a little high in the ADM Recon S mount, but I plan on putting a sightron 8-32x56 as soon as more funds come up. Atlas Bi-pod should be here Friday thanks to Wolverine Supplies and a Timney trigger is coming from Accurate Action. I eventually would like to re-barrel and I'm thinking 260 rem but I'm not sure. I've read a lot of good on the 260 though I've never shot one myself. I was originally planning on 7-08. or maybe keep with the 308? What would you do? It will strictly be used for longer range target shooting - 400 up to 1000 yards. Thanks to all the nutters and sponsors for supplying all the parts bit by bit over the last 6 months or so. Here are some pics:

Very very nice. I'd shoot that till the barrel fell off and then maybe something else. Except for this shortage of 308 lately.

I've never seen anyone with a TAC21 that has a MOE-K grip installed. Looks a lot better than those rubberized grips so commonly seen. How do you like the grip angle? Any plans to cerekote the chassis in FDE? That would pretty much complete the package.

Stick with a .308 Win. If you replace the factory barrel with a good aftermarket one you may never out shoot the barrel. For the distance you mentioned you'd be shooting at, I don't think I'd bother with anything else.

I'll keep the chassis black I think, if the barrel is ever changed out I'm thinking it would have to match the FDE stock parts. Also have some side rails coming with magpul FDE rail covers as well. The grip angle is good, the grip was a pain to fit on the chassis though.

Shoot it!

Don't worry about changing calibers until you get lots of trigger time behind it. Just enjoy your rifle and shoot it. Thanks my advise.
That is the plan to shoot it for quite some time before changing the barrel. Just looking for some ideas when the time comes. It will be my first custom rifle other than a 10/22.

You will find that if you use a rear bag with the PRS stock that the plastic cover that is on the bottom of the stock (covers the picantiny rail for a mono-pod) will slide off while shooting from recoil. Either drill and pin or glue it in place because it is a major PITA! Otherwise enjoy the chassis, I have 2 on my F-open rifles and they are worth the $$$. Piper.

I will be using a rear bag, thanks for the advice. I wonder if there is anything a guy could buy or make to attach to the rail on the PRS to help ride the bag any nicer?

I hate to bring back a ghost but this is an awesome looking rifle.

Pardon my ignorance on the matter but would having a removable stock like that PRS not bump the build into a restrained firearm on the account of the total length being less than 26 inches? I'm not familiar with the length on the action of the 700 itself (I know that the AAC has a 20 inch barrel). Our laws are just so unclear...

If this is still unrestrained, im SOO building one of these.

It's non restricted, not unrestrained. Now go buy one.
