I just installed a tac 21 chassis on my remington 700 308. I have an AI 308 10 rnd mag that doesn't fit, it's like the mag is too long and the tab is not catching the mag release. I tried my 10 rnd 223 mag and it works fine. When I contacted mdt, they asked where I got the mag from and said AI makes different length mags. I bought the mag from mystic precision and it should be the aics mag. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix it?

Sounds like you possibly have one of the 10 round mags for the newer AX AICS Chassis. I don't recall the difference in dimensions but the older AI AICS mags are probably what you re looking for. Here's two links to the different mags on Wolverine's website, the top link is the older style AICS mag that I believe fits the TAC21 chassis.

The AX AICS mags have a lip protruding on the top front of the mag, the old AICS mags don't, if you have that lip on yours then it wont work with the Tac21.

Well if you don't want to check what the other posters have told you, I think you'll just have to put it on the shelf as a paper weight.

I'm not sure what you what you mean by that comment about not checking what the other posters told me, they all said sounds like I have the wrong mag, so I double checked and confirmed with Jerry at mystic precision. He told me he only carries the style that will work with the tac 21 and that is the style he sold me. Got any other ideas rather than a paper weight smart a$$? I'd love to hear from the more experienced if they had similar situations and how they fixed it. So far Jerry recommended filing down the mag catch which makes sense.

Maybe the mag was mislabeled when it was sent to Jerry.

JayCarver gave you exactly the info you need.

E-mailing Jerry will only help you get the proper one or warranty on bad workmanship for the one you have.

Don't take this the wrong way because I really like Jerry but really what has he confirmed? That he intended to send you the right magazine? Take a picture and post it.

He confirmed that he only carries and sells the mags I need and I checked my mag to make sure it wasn't the ax based on others posts

No one in history has ever received the wrong part in the right box, so your mag must be the correct one? I had a pallet of toilet brushes show up once that thought they were 3/8" bolts. They had the correct NSN on every package, and were identified as individually packaged bolts but at the end of the day despite what the packaging and supply system said I was short 1000 bolts, and was giving toilet brushes away to everyone who walked through the shop.

Post a couple pics and you might get some helpful feed back.

Pics are worth 1000 words and with me feeling like posting rambling stories they might even be worth 1001.
