My brother wants to get a bunch of the Federal tactical buck shot. He just loves chewing up stuff with his 870. Now that I finally got the 14 inch Norc, I figure I'll join him and get a bunch for myself.

The reduced velocity shouldn't matter for a fun gun that I'm not using for hunting, and ought to spare the shoulder.

Anyone have a different view, or is it worth the money???

I use it all the time...expensive but good :) BTW, I have tried Winchester Ranger, Federal Tactical (including their new design) and Remington LE...the Winchester Ranger is by far the best...it feels great to shoot and the slugs are very accurate

Where may I partake of this tactical buckshot goodness? Who's carrying this stuff?

Ellwood Epps can get the reduced recoil Fiochi for $6 per 10 round box.

If you order a few cases, be sure to ask about a discount.

Try a couple boxes and see if you like it. Check out how well it patterns from your gun and if the recoil is any different for you.

When the 1000 rounds I've ordered comes in, I'll post the results.

of all the 12 Ga OObuck that I have tested, I would rank the following way:

Federal OOBuck 8 pellet low recoil load (most accurate from a 14 inch MOD choke barrel)
Remington OOBuck 8 pellet low recoil load comes in a VERY close second
Winchester is noticably down the scale in terms of accuracy.

Can someone tell me what make a buck shot become tactical? :p

I am begining to hate that term as well, but it is used to describe the ammo, so...........

Standard oo buck in a 2 3/4 shell is a 9 pellet load at 1350 fps or so. Tactical buck shot is slower and often one pellet lighter. It kicks less so you can get back on target faster. It may pattern better in some guns.

And it takes down Zombies like nobodys business.

We went to that Winchester "Tactical" stuff a few years back.

Reduced recoil stuff. Makes for fast follow-up shots. I think our decision was influenced by the number of Mini-Mounties you see nowadays. Less pounding on the slight of stature.
