Alright bought a custom Tac ord 870 (not the magpul one) 18.5" Surefire forensic already waiting this will be a critter/home defense/predator gun. Have only used standard stocks in the past and need advise, stores around me don't have the ones I'm interested in.

Magpul: seen the reviews, know it's a love hate. Downside for me is permanent size, plus is cheapest option.

Messa LE with Riser: expensive, again one size

Cadex: awesome that it comes off (super compact) and I can use any m4 stock and buffer. Expensive and the low angle is a concern.

Messa high angle: use any m4 stock and goes flush so a UBR (my favorite m4 stock) would be possible and it collapses to a degree and lengthens out for long shots or bird shots. Gonna cost serious money for this setup.

Curious especially if you owned multiple on this list or have a better option. Trying to stay on a budget as the gun itself killed me but will spend if enough positives.

Thanks for any posts.

Well, if you're looking for opinions ...

I've tried some of the pistol grip shotgun stocks and do not like any of them.

I ended up going with a 12.5" lop Hogue on my "tactical" 870's. For my hunting 870's I went with the Hogue standard length stocks.

Probably not what you wanted to hear, but that was my conclusions on the pistol grip 870 stocks.

I've tried most of them. The magpul came in second. First place went to the original equipment police stock, and that is what is now on all 3 of my 870"s (after spending several hundred dollars in various stocks)

Pistol grip buttstocks on shotguns can be an acquired taste, I personally like them but they're something you'll want to try to before you buy.

BTW, the Magpul stock's LOP can be adjusted through the use of spacers.

For the Bush guns I use the hogue stocks. I have several magpul stocks and I like the ease of changing the lop with the spacers and also I have a hand stop on my forend of my shorty which is actually pretty comfortable and looks slick. The interchangeable cheek riser is also a bonus on the magpul.
I hated any pistol grips I've tried on shotguns. The magpul was the closest I could find that was comfortable.

It also has different risers. I have a magpul stock and forend on my 870 tactical and I love them. The ATI Talon stocks are nice too.

MESA LEO and MAGPUL SGA ,

Of these two , the magpul would be my first choice , lighter , handy , easy to adjust LOP , lots of sling point options , the mesa leo is kind of like lego , build you own ,different grips and stocks , I find this set up heavier , which is only a bad thing if you're humping it very far , the weight does help soak up recoil though ,that being said , the recoil with the magpul isn't bad ether , just get both and sell the one you don't want on the EE .lol

Sell for double you mean ; ) lol there's a UBR gen 2 on there for $350 right now. ($259 at a few places).

Yea I'm gonna wait till it's in my hands and try it out and let it tell me what it wants lol. The biggest question I'm curious about now is it comes with a standard Bead but I'll be upgrading that with a rail and either a super low pro aimpoint Micro or a new Vortex Huey (similar to an eotech) line of sight will change with those options as well.

Mesa LEO is the way to go especially if you want to use ghost ring or bead sights, Mesa high tube stock will need a flip up or red dot mounted on the rail. I love my LEO, ergonomics are great for me and I like the pistol grip for shooting slugs. Which is primarily what I put through it.

I'm a big fan the Magpul SGA; I've got one on an 870, and one on my 590A1. I had a Mesa LEO on a previous 870 and I didn't like it.

YMMV

I've got the Magpul. I must admit, I'm at a -1 on it. The extra shims for my gorilla arms is great, but there's something about the angle of the grip that's, I don't know...OFF. Doesn't sit right in my hand.

Cannon

I have a Knoxx stock with a Surefire fore-end (w/ light) on one 870, but more often than not, I defer to my other 870 that has Hogue furniture.

I like the mesa tactical urbino stock, after trying many others. I was a fan of the Benelli Super-90, and that stock is a virtual copy of the Mesa (or vice-versa)

I also like the short LOP from Hogue

YMMV....

If you go Mesa High Tube , you'll have to invest in ether a red dot or AR type BUIS , so more money .
If I might ask , why the Mesa High Tube over the Mesa LEO ?

Very tempted after seeing a Vortex UHG-1 for that I need the high tube, if I went LEO tube and a low red dot I think I'd do the Cadex mount that can be removed for easier packing.

The Cadex looks neat , to bad they don't make one for the Mossberg , I'd try one , kind of pricy for just the stock adapter though , And the Mesa High Tube definitely gets cool points , and the inline recoil makes follow up shots quicker , But , it just seems kind of bulky .
Going to look in to that Vortex UHG-1 ,use to run a EoTech on my AR , really like the HWS .
