Hello all
Looking for suggestions and pics of rem700 base/ring setups for a Rifle I'm setting up.

The rifle is a 700p trimmed to 21in and in a BC m40 style stock.
I want the rifle to be compact trim and durable to use in the field and shoot informal practical rifle courses of fire. Want the rings/base to be snag free and strong.
I am leaning toward steel....could be convinced to use ally if there are quality setups.
Is an ally base and steel rings OK?

Shooting 308 and up to 500~600yds. 0moa base to keep it low.

Thanks

Budget is limited but obviously willing to spend into quality setup. Not up for a several hundred dollar combo tho.

I have bought the same base & rings for all 3 Remington 700's I've owned, a .308 Police, a .223 Tactical (twice owned) and a .270 BDL Deluxe model.

Base - Badger Ordnance Steel base (0 MOA for general use or 20 MOA for long range added elevation)
Rings - Badger Ordnance Steel High or medium (depending on objective lens size) 50mm I usually get High rings.

Base - $200 USD
Rings - $150 USD

Check out Brownells.com and have a browse.....lots of solid companies out there, if the US Military uses them, then you'll behold enough for me plinking about on a lazy afternoon shooting ;)

You get what you pay for..............Why spend good money on a quality rifle/scope and then balk at spending roughly $300.00 for a quality base a rings??

I use Badger Ordnance rings and have use NEAR Mfg. bases in the past. Great stuff.......and NEAR is Canadian made.

I have been very well served with WARNES rails and BADGER rings. My stuff realy gets beatup and it never mooved. The first time I have put a scope in BADGER rings I understood immediately why they cost so much and now I dont look back.

Burris XTB 2pc steel bases... dirt cheap. Easier access to your action opening... I really like this.

Burris Sig ZEE rings ... steel, inserts so you shim if desired. very well made, very well priced for the range of utility you get.

Another vote for Near Mfg.

The Near Mfg. Alpha Mount is a work of machining art

Talk to Richard and he will get you the mount that is ideal for your rifle / scope system 780-608-2441

So that's where Richard ended up, I know he use to build some unreal stuff and played around with 50BMG's all the time, I use to work for a farmer a few miles from his farm where he use to live. Small world, I've heard lots of times of how talented this guy is with a milling machine.

Anyway back on topic, I wouldn't be scared to buy anything this guy made, he's a perfectionist from what I've heard.
