Tactifool Hunting Rifle - Taking Tactical To Far

Given the high cost that goes into producing a rifle design I'd hazard to guess Remington would have spent some time at the range testing it.

Also IIRC pistol grip firearms are meant to be shot elbow down, shooting them elbow level will generally produce the rifle in the face effect if the rifle has some recoil.

;)That would work for me. I tore up my right rotator a number of years back and as long as I keep my right elbow down and bunch up a bit more meat at the shoulder, I can handle anything from my 22LR to the 458WM. I accidently shot my son in laws 375H&H elbow up and suffered for a few days.

If a "tactical" gun such as an AR15 or AK-47 is good enough to be carried into war and used for months on end and used for killing people...why is it not good enough to be used for a week or two to shoot a deer within a few 100 yards in the woods?
#1 You may not be aware of this but, the AR and AK type rifles are restricted so cannot be included in your "why not good for hunting too argument". If you decide to buy one of these rifles, the only place you can play with it at the range, or fondle it in your basement. I'd happily own & hunt with an AR if I could as they are one of the few battle rifles out there that could be used for sporting with good results. I would pass on the AK for reasons stated below.

#2 Many battle rifles are not well suited for sporting use. In many cases they are heavy, harder to scope, less accurate, and not designed for hunting as they come with lower combs and features redundant for hunting.

A 7lb/scoped 308 sporting bolt action rifle is FAR easier and more enjoyable to use for hunting than a 10lb/scoped M305. I've owned them both, so save your reply on this point.

SuperCub i couldn`t agree with you more on your 2 points. I would buy an AR in a heart beat if i could take it out and hunt or just go shooting where i please. I have also got to use an FN before they got on the crap list and they are not fun to carry over hill and dale. Nice shooters as was the uzi my brother in law had, it was fun to shoot but not real use full out of its intended purpose. Tacticool or tactifool i don`t know, every type and style of firearm has it`s fans. I tend to lean towards bolt action rifles and took a while to accept a synthetic stock, just my likes and dislikes.

I bet they didn't test ####. They just took a Remington 700 SPS and threw a ####ty AR stock on it. They will sell it as is because they know tactical fans will buy it and they will make changes baised off of feed back.

I still can accept synthetic stocks. I even own a Remington M887 Field Model. I love it for the fact I'm not marking up my over/unders or side/sides but its ugly as sin.

Have you fired it?... Or any other pistol grip rifle for that matter?

Well technically my Over/Under is a pistol grip... So is my Marlin 336. Oh and my CZ 550. Yes I happen to own one "pistol grip" rifle. I own a Cz 858 (Vz 58) that is bone stock. I personly love the looks of military firearms that are in stock condition like a Vietnam style AR-15 with the short 20rd mag, Cz858, SKS, Mosin Nagant. But once rails, flashlights, duracoat, or some other stupid #### is added it just doesn't turn me on at all. Scopes are ok but some people just throw on the dumbest optics ever and thats not just tactical rifles either. I've seen someone with a 50mm scope on a CZ 550 Lux and you may as well not have any stock at all for how high the scope is mounted.

I really don't have to try a firearm to know if i'll like it or not. As long as I don't own it and the ammo is free, i'll have fun firing any tactical abomination. In fact, many people at the range I go to have many tactical firearms. This one guy has this ugly stupid thing that's non-restricted has some kind of wire side folding stock kind of looks like a sub machine gun with a long barrel. Its Uglier than Rosie O'Donnell but its sure fun to shoot but for the price tag he said he paid for it f#$% id rather go out and buy a Sako 85 Bravarian or a Beretta Silver Pigeon S.

The funniest thing is - love all of the guns you listed... We have similar tastes... And this rem doesn't offend me... That's why I asked...

A lot of people love these kinds of threads. Just look at the view count of this thread vs the view count of some other threads. As some people have mentioned that they like reading eveyones different opinions as do I whether or not the opinion is completely outlandish. The truth that i'm hiding is, I respect their oinions but I still like to give them a hard time about it. Just like Ford and Mopar fans. Although id never buy a ford or mopar... well... maybe a Road Runner. I can still appreciate the time and money that goes into these cars to bring them back to there former glory. Although I couldn't give a #### about the people who jack them up 6inches and put 28" rims on them. Kind of like how I couldn't give a #### about wannabee army tactical fans who put every accessory they can on their guns. Plus, a lot of people were entertained by this thread, Its all Fun & Games.

Personally Its not my cup of tea but I like the fact that people are buying more tactical looking/functioning rifles for both hunting and recreational shooting.

We all know that many great firearms have been restricted only because they look scary and different from the guns our grandfathers owned. The more common these types of firearms become the less scary guns like the AR 15 are. Maybe in the future people will see them as the same and won't be horrified when we push to de-restrict them.

Then again maybe I've had too much rum :)
