Hi gents, I will be shipping out a browning a-5. I would like to take it down to make shipping package smaller. I do not want to make a mess, and I am not sure of the recipeints ability to reassemble. Please help.

He has to be willing to take the fore-end off if he's going to change the friction rings, i.e. take it down. Just take it down, I'd say.

Don't worry about the guy at the other end - if he(she) doesn't know how to take down/re-assemble, he needs to learn. The gun has to be taken down and the bushing reversed in order to properly cycle target loads (light loads) vs. game loads (or other heavy loads), and he needs to learn how.

Take down consists of removing the knurled nut on the end of the magasine (counter clockwise as you look from the muzzle) and keeping track of the parts, 'cause she just falls apart after that.
