I don't have a IPSC Rule book (lost it), I guess I could always go look on the web site. I want to change my recoil spring in my pistol, would this push me out of standard into the open class? It's a modification, is it not? or does this pass in IPSC?
I think I already know the anser to this, but I would like it confirmed.

Don't be lazy... go look it up.. you might find some information in the rule book that would actually be useful during a match (when you can't "whip it out")

did you have to pass a Black badge exam to shoot IPSC matches on the rock? Just curious as this seems like a basic divisional question.

Standard division pistol can be any pistol that fits in the box,..(see rule book),..and does NOT have a compensator,..and does NOT have an electronic optic...other than that,...anything goes.

Open division pistol anything goes....(electronic optics,..compensators,..Single action triggers,...etc...)

SO,...changing a spring in your Standard compliant pistol would not put you in Open division.

The fact that the question is being asked worries me. Where are you shooting IPSC? :sniper:

worries you..... :weird:
As long as he shoots safe who care about the rules.
if you get worried over somthing like that u should take up PPC.
Guy just asked somthing simple, maybe he figgered people hear might know somthing:jerkit:

I know a rule book is a must, and I'm still a newbie. Yes, I agree, this was a lazy way to ask, but with work hours being crazy, I figured I could ask the question and get the anwser by the time I get back. So now that I have the anwser, I can spend more time at the range testing diffrent spring weights. Yes, I remembered talks during the Black Badge course about modifications to pistols, but the details are a little fuzzy to me now. nobody is perfect when they start, and I have my flaws like everyone else. I still rather ask the question first than make the mistake because I was afraid to ask. Thanks to the guys who anwsered me, as for the rest, you made sure that I drag that rule book around from here on. :)

I know all about it,...I have two kids in diapers, and two older children,...+ work+ small business and rental property to look after = chaos. Does not hurt to ask:wave:

just download a copy to your smartphone, if you have one. then you can search it with the built in "find" button on most pdf apps. much simpler than paging through the redbook.
