In the glove compartment of your car....(mindful of the new edict on profanity).

Today while shooting five stand a shooter I'd never seen before received not one, not two, but THREE calls on this cell. Instead of turning it off or ignoring it this bozo decided the middle of the round was the time to have several extended conversations.

Of course when it was his turn, he placed the offensive electronic object down, fumbled with this gun, loaded and shot his targets (exceedingly poorly I might add).

To put it mildly your humble correspondent wanted nothing more at the moment than to grab this guy's phone, place it into a launcher and turn it into dust. Wonder what the best choke for a cell phone might be.

Well at least it was good practice to manage distractions while shooting and I ended the round high gun with a respectble score. I had planned to shoot a second round but with Ernestine the Operator on the squad the cozy confines of the clubhouse and a restorative beverage were more appealing.

All I could think after it was over is that this guy should never shoot registered trap. Those guys don't look to kindly on such antics and would have launched his cell phone with the idiot owner still holding it.

Rant over. Thanks.

I hear ya. I was at the range couple of weeks ago shooting my muzzleloader. Well some guy was shooting his rifle few spots down from me, and it was all cool, until his cell went off. Now I do have mine with me most of the time, but only so people can reach me and that is it, and I mean 10 - 15 seconds conversation at the most. ####, I'm a guy, I can't have long conversations on a phone  . So I let him answer it and I politely wait about a minute for him to finish, but he kept chating, so I started shooting 8) . Too bad I did not have my '06 with me 'cause I would shart having some rapid fire drills   .

ever seen the video of the guy/kid playing basket ball with his friends when he gets a call from his GF, one of his buddies overhands the ball into the back of his head....i figure that's the right response
personally in the summer i will take my phone with me to the gopher fields so i can be at "work" and "play" at the same time, i quite enjoy saying "hold it....bang...ok i'm back" as the person on the other end is all WTF? (note earmuffs and wireless make this possible....)

The choke to use is extra full and MAX loads. Must be a five member team shoot as well

Cell phones

First and foremost we must understand that there is no special 'test' given to new cell phone owners. Unfortunately, cell phone ethics are not a pre-requisite to ownership and use.

It amazes me that this still happens. I hear it on the golf course, at the range, and in meetings. There is a thing called vibrate....USE IT!

There is a real cool feature called voice mail.....people should try that as well!

I'm a cell phone only person. I have no land line, no other phone.

BUT I still take the thing off when I'm at the range. No one has a need to be THAT "connected" that they can't be unavailable for 20 mins at a time when on the range.

It is truly unfortunate that the genteel sport of clay shooting has been invaded by the egocentric "techno twits" who feel that the world cannot stand to be out of touch with them for an instant.
If things are so critical that you positively must be connected, you probably should not be out shooting in the first place.
After all , it's about relaxation and sport.

It amazes me how a very small amount of capital, and an even smaller amount of intelligence can allow even the dimmest bulb to get a cell phone and annoy the world.
What ever became of good taste and manners???? (deep sigh)

odd you should say that as that is exactly what i ws thinking.
My cell is on 99% of the time, about 10% of that time it is not on vibrate the rest of the time it is. my phone has call display so if i ignore the call its easy to see who called, they also have the option of leaving voice mail too.

seeing a cell get blasted would be interesting
