VR66 Guns Disassembly: Max vs. Standard
We’ve been getting questions about the differences between the VR66 Max and the standard VR66 when it comes to disassembly—so Stanley jumped in with a side-by-side demo.
The good news? Both versions break down easily once you know what to look for. On the standard VR66, you’re dealing with a simple nut and snap ring system on the magazine tube—just lefty-loosey, pull, and the barrel pops off. With the Max, the process is nearly identical, but the barrel retention system is up front on the cap and the handguard slides off after the barrel is removed.
The key takeaway: don’t overthink it. Whether you’re running the stripped-down 3-gun “bare bones” model or the feature-packed Max, both versions can be field-stripped quickly with a little wiggle and twist. Knowing how to properly seat the barrel and handguard ensures zero gaps and smooth cycling when you reassemble.
