TAKING RESTRICTED FIREARMS TO THE RANGE

Hello,

I have recently returned back from Europe to Canada and I want to make sure I understand the new laws correctly.

If someone wants to take a restricted firearm to the range today, are they able to do so, or not?
Can they take the restricted firearm to the range freely without an application or do they need an ATT in order to do so? In the past, if I recall correctly, being a member of a local gun range, would automatically give you the ATT right on all your firearms.

If you are a member of a gun range you do not need an ATT when travelling there. Same “ATT” rules would apply as the route there and back should be direct.
 
Another change to keep in mind is, we used to be able to take our restricted firearms to any and every registered gun range. So long as you were a member at one range, your ATT was extended to all ranges (as a guest).

This is no longer true. If you're a member at range "A", and want to take your restricted guns to range "B", you have to have an ATT to take them to range "B", which is now applied for on-line.

Same holds true for taking firearms to a gunsmith. I don't know how long you've been gone, but the cops aren't f ucking around with us anymore https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/hami...ystery-customer-witness-police-raid-1.6977476

I wonder if a second range can be added to your file by faxing in the membership card to CFO?

Wrong. The transport conditions have not changed on any of our licenses. They still read any range approved under section 29 in the province.

Nope - not the range part at least. The DID remove gunsmiths from the list of places you can go (as well as point of entry, and IIRC gunshow was on there too when ATTs first became automatic?), but they didn't limit it to just a single range. (At least not in my case).

Can confirm, I renewed last year, and have my conditions paper on the shelf behind me. It says "these license conditions authorize the transport...within their province of residence...to and from all shooting clubs and ranges approved under section 29...".

It should be noted the automatic ATT only applies to firearms registered to me, if I were to borrow a restricted from a friend I would need an ATT for that.

And....I understand that you must carry that piece of paper as well.

Happy to be corrected, but I don't believe you have.

I want to estimate 2021, maybe 2022, (covid) rules changed whereby, restricted firearms required a separate ATT for any sanctioned range, gunsmith, or retailer (warranty purposes). The ATT only applies to your range.

July 7, 2021 language says any range in your home province or territory
