Taking the CFSC/CRFSC locations/dates/time

Does any one know of any firearms academy in the Markham or Richmond Hill areas teaching over a period of a few weeks? I would love to attend the classes and take the tests so I could apply for my PAL. But, I simply cannot spend an entire weekend. 10 hours for the CFSC (10 hours) + 6 hours for the CRFSC (Sunday). I'm sure there are many others in my position. Most of us are very "booked". Last time I could spare a weekend for one task I was in university. But that was my only focus at the time so...

And, I heard in one school "participation is required"...in what capacity?

Thanks.

You could do the NR by itself? It's 10 hours. Then go back for the restricted later, but if I recall it's 10 hours again if you split them up.

May I ask, if you can't spend a weekend to get the license, do you have enough time to bother getting them in the first place?

The 'participation required' is that you will be called upon to answer questions. You will also be required to physically handle the demo firearms. You can't just sleep through it.

I can go for the classes and testing if it's spread out over weeks. Maybe 3-4 hour classes each weekend. I just can't spare 10 hours one day then 6 or 10 hours the next. Obligations. Not for the time being. That's why I was hoping there is a school with more "realistic" hours.

My buddies with families...I hardly see. They got almost every waking minute "booked" on weekends. So for them...if they were looking to take these courses..they couldn't. Not in the cards till their kids are teens. Even then... Tis life.

So, if any one knows of any Markham based (or Richmond Hill, Willowdale, Thornhill...) facility with better hours...Otherwise I'll have to do this "eventually" heh...

Participation? Thought so. Typical. Just wondered because they felt the need to mention it. Would be a waste of money to "sleep through it". That and you probably didn't have the booklets yet any how so...nor would you do very well on the exams. :)

I was in the exact same position as you and I don't think You will find anything within the GTA.... You would have to go outside the GTA and talk to an instructor to see if they could teach you in their house or garage... Anything I read a couple of months ago was about a mobile school.. They come to your residence and teach you, you however need to have a certain number of students to commit before they come, and once again, if they come to you it would be a whole day thing...

Just free up your schedual - most places you call will book you months from now in the GTA anyway. So write it on your calender and do nothing those two days but go take your classes. I'm married with four kids between a month and 10 years old and work six to seven days a week and I made the time. You can too if you really want this....

Well, as I said, my married friends are "booked" almost to the minute. You're lucky your able to work 6-7 days a week/married with 4 kids and still managed to make time.

I guess some how I'll have to "make the time" eventually.

Still think some "academy" should setup a flexible time for people like me and alistair1. 3 or 4 hours every Sunday morning over 3 weeks. In York Region (Markham, Richmond Hill...).

Maybe when I'm able to find the time there will be such a thing.

Thanks guys.
