So I caught the Skeet shooting bug :) Driving 2hrs to look at afew guns at lebarons in Ottawa, Hopefully they still have the Beretta field pigeon C instock. Going to look at afew Citoris too but that Beretta looks pretty nice, so hope it fits!

Now am going to be a cultured member of high society, I must go buy a smoking jacket and pipe :p

Prepare to see the one gun turn into many, reloaders will appear and proliferate. Shooting bags full of glasses, pouches, vests, choke tubes and other necessities will become minimum equipment. You will meet some great people and leave your bank account dry. Enjoy the ride ;)

Glad to see I am not the only one who got hooked, have fun and enjoy I am sure you will.... Trap and skeet the other reactive targets ;)

Let us know how much fun you had and or pics

Just shot four rounds of skeet :) did well my for my first shoot, scores were 12/16/14/13. hope to break 20 by fall :p

I love the gun but need to get a larger front bead and maybe a brass one as the OEM beam is very hard to see. I also am thinking of get a middle bead installed at the same time. Also the beretta auto safety is a Pain in the butt, I heard you can disable it some how?

You need to focus on the target, and not the bead. If you are focusing on the bead, you aren't focusing on the target. A larger, brighter bead, will just distract you even more. I have helped more than one person to improve their scores, by taking the big green or red ribs, that they had added, off of their shotguns.

What he saidVVVVVVVVVVVVV BTW think of it like the old west point and shoot... just like the wild west take a file to the front bead and look down the barrel and not at the barrel, It is a learning curve and very different then rifle.. bit tough to get out of bad habit.

Although its certainly a ymmv sort of thing, I agree with you wholeheartedly on this. Realistically most people will need to become very much more instinctive in their shooting if they want the scores to improve and the sight becomes a distraction not an aid.

Now I just wish we had some skeet fields nearby.

My recommendation is if this is a field gun have a gunsmith disable the auto safety. Pattern the shotgun. set a target at 16yrds, put a full choke in and look at the target bring the gun to shoulder and pull the trigger. don't look at the bead when doing this just the target. You want to see where the gun shoots relative to where you look.

I also recently was bitten by this skeet bug. Went out it my 5 or 6th time today.

I've progressed well averaging 1/10 on a hand thrower the first 2 times.
Then to organized skeet with the automated machine I was getting 6-10 /25.
A few more times out and today I hit 15,12,12,20,18 /25!

It sure feels good to hit a disk with the full load and watch it explode into dust off the end of your bead.
Are you in it for the sport, or practicing for ducks and geese dsiwy?
