Guys im down to a handful of factory federals but have a box of 139gr H ILs and around 60 brass.

Just needto talk pros an cons of eitger sticking with the factorys for another box of Feds for $40 or grab the Dies and accesories beforre messing around with developing loads.

Factorys must b arou d 2600fps but working fine on Red and Fallow Deer..

Grab all of the gear you need now, and use it when the time is right for you. gear only goes up in price, unless you can find some used stuff. A new die set in canada is now $65.00 plus tax.

Yeah mate Down here a standard Lee die set is around $ 55-65 dollars, plus the Case length cauge, and the rest I believe I should have.

so say $80 by the time I walk out.

I am on the look out locally for used an not abused bits an pieces..

Id also welcome a flatter trajectory too, I rekon even a Low load of Varget an 139gr would push atleast 150fps faster than the factory federal stuff

Just take the plunge. You won't regret it. The ability to try different bullets and powders adds another dimension to you favorite firearm. It will help you be a better marksman as a side effect!

60 pcs should be plenty to start load development, and 60 rounds on hand should be plenty for hunting purposes.

Used gear at gun shows (are there any in Oz?) is a good way to start. You don't need a case gauge, but a dial caliper is a must.

Start loading. It will add to you fun.

No, you won't gain 150 fps. You will load develop for accuracy, not velocity.

ADI 2208 would be a good local powder.

Yeh mate AR2208 is what i use for the other calibres,
Thats the thing though... the federals shoot an inch at 100 and the 150gr is working fine apart from core sepration .. non issue.
Thinking for now i will grab anither box of factory stuff for the next two months of hunting and thrn bite the bullet for our winter.

Accuracy but id like closer to 27/2800 fps from my all round seven

In my 7mm-08 i am loading 139gr interlock and sst with h4350 and 48.7gr or the stuff. Speed is 2895fps. Accuracy is. 891" at 200 yards. With the speed I am getting I am only 55fps off the factory hornady superformance loadings. I will take that. I am not getting any pressure signs and could go higher with charges but accuracy is pretty good
