Would like some input from those of you who have been there and who you hunted with. Only of coarse if you would recommend them.
I really want a 150 lb guinea pig (capybara) Red stag, buff, banteng and whatever else there is there. Don't mind traveling to a few places if necessary to collect what I want.
Also what kind of gun regs and paperwork is necessary and is a visa required?
I will of course dig into this myself, once I have an outfitter but any info and help would be appreciated.

Another continent down and one step closer to Emperor Penguins and Leopard seals.............

And Gatehouse, I'll be taking the "TRUE KING" again for this one. God knows you can't find ammo for the pathetic Ruger 3/8" in South America, I doubt they ever heard of it!!!! LOL

I hunted with Poitahue in La Pampa for free range red stag,(we concentrated on descartes) buffalo, blackbuck, boar, some kind of smelly goat and a funny sheep that I probably wouldn't bother with again (The sheep). I also shot 15 1/2 boxes of shotshells at doves in a couple hours. That was fun.

There weren't any capibara in that area, but there were mara. We couldn't shoot them but they are a big rat or maybe a rabbit. Banteng is more an Australian thing.

Bringing the guns in was easy enough, you do it all at the airport when you get there. I think the fee was $100 per gun and you can take two. I can't remember about the visa, but $35 seems to ring a bell.

Hunting that rolling, thorny country was mostly a close range propostion where you stalk the roaring stags, but if you get up on the valley tops you can shoot as far as you see provideing you can convince them. I popped one at 568 by getting the guides to joke about it then shooting before they realized that I wasn't. That was fun too.

Blackbuck like it in the open and 200 is fairly normal. Pigs are where you find them, unless you sit waterholes at night or chase hounds. Bring a big knife if you're up to that.

This picture has the 4 hunters, the guides and a bit of staff.

We hunted with Caza Pampa for red stag, water buff, axis deer, black buck and feral sheep and TGB Outfitters for wild boar and fallow deer. I'd highly recommend both. You need to head further north for the capybara and there's no banteng in Argentina that I'm aware of. It's kind of hard to combine capybara with too much else but you can do it as a side trip.

Getting guns in is a bit of a paperwork hassle and you'll need to run around a bit to make your payment and such but everyone is very helpful. If flying to another destination in Argentina or when you come back home, give yourself at least an hour for the gun paperwork and more would be better. Don't lose your gun paperwork!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The steaks in Buenos Aries are the best I've ever eaten. There's some great restaurants and they are a bargain. It's a fun country to hunt and play tourist in. We just got our trophies back this week...getting them home is a bit of a paperwork challenge as well.
