Talley CZ 457 scope mounts

Your scope has a 40mm objective lens but that's not the outside diameter of the objective bell. Measure the OD of the objective bell.

Talley says their low rimfire rings are .350" to the bottom of the scope tube and their high rings are .600".

For those uncomfortable with the math, with the difference in height between the receiver and barrel on the CZ 457 factored in, the low rings are sufficient for an objective bell OD of 1.7". The high rings will be good for an OD of 2.2". These figures are for a one inch scope tube.

Another option may be the BKL 257 MED rings. They are good for up to 44mm (but only clear by a hair with 44mm). BKL's are well rated on Rimifire central for CZ and I've been happy with these rings on mine. I think DL Airgun has them.

The objective bell on the scope I intend to use mikes 1.872", so it looks like I need the High rings. Pity, I was hoping to get away with lower mounts for a better cheek weld.

That or I need to find a medium height in another brand.

Want an exercise in frustration ..... ?

Talk to a few gun dealers re: scope mounts for a CZ 457, telling them you want 11mm mounts, NOT 3/8".

Pointing out that the CZ-USA web site says that's what I need for my 457 'Synthetic' is futile.

They know better than CZ.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered some 11mm CZ scope mounts from Firearms Outlet Canada. I choked at the price but I was tired of Mickey Mousing around trying to find something suitable for less.

And tired of talking to dealers who don't get the CZ 11mm dovetail size.

Another stocking source was Rangeview Sports. I flipped a coin to decide.

I use Leopold high 11mm mounts on my 455 Varmint. The damn eye piece on my Bushnell scope barely is cleared by the bolt handle. Not sure if the 457 has less angle on the bolt, the 452 and 455 are horrible for that.

Warne makes rings that will fit 3/8" or 11mm depending on how the clamp is oriented. I bought a set at Bass Pro for about $50. They work fine.
