Someone I know got a new Limited Custom, the mags are lazer cut around the body of the mag, apparently to prevent them being able to go high capacity. Well at an indoor IPSC match, one hit the floor (concrete) and broke in half.

Is this the best idea they could come up with? I really like the Limited Custom II, but with mags like that, no thanks. Anyone know of another supplier of mags for this gun that are not lazer cut?

I think the newer mags are not laser cut. Some of mine for my .40 are laser cut,..and have not broke.

FWIW, Sean hates lazer cut mags for the same reasons and if an alternative is available from the supplier, you can count on him asking about it. He experimented with altering some Tan mags for the STI GP6 when they arrived with lazer cut mags.

The first series of Tanfoglio mag were laser cut into the dimple - front and rear - dimple that hold the bottom with the top. Those were replaced free by Sean since they were breaking easily. The new model still have the laser cut but the cut do not extend into or as close to the dimple edge. The new version is holding so far.

This being said, I got 3 mags that are not cut and hold ten round. I purchased the gun at CRAFM. Thereafter, I purchased six additional mags : I got the Tanfoglio laser cut version. The uncut were not available anymore according to CRAFM. The uncut version exist but I do not know were to get them. My best guess is that they are EAA mag or Meggar. ( No marking to identify them)

Some guys in NS have gotten them soldered(sp) to make sure they don't break.

I got mine a long time ago, when there where laser cut right into the dimple.. they only lasted about 100 rounds.. the local supplier got them all welded for free, and now they work no problem.. they don't' look purdy, but then again I use and abuse them, they don't need to look good.. ;) ;) ;)
