Tangent Theta Scopes

S&B… proven to hold up in The environments they are needed in.

TT might have more bells and whistles but I’m not trusting my life to it in the desert or coated in Sea Water.

Halifax. They took over the Premier line from Armament Technology in the US and improved the turrets.

To be completely accurate they purchased some equipment and the intellectual property rights to Premier. I have both TT and Premier and they are quite different scopes now.

TT did not exist when the CAF purchased the S and B Scopes.

Care to enlighten me as to why not ?

I’ll leave it at personal preference, Length of company existing and providing for military’s and knowing guys who have had issues with their TT’s and in both cases even after warranty work they were sold and replaced with a S&B and a NF.

No other reasoning, and I am sure some specialized military units do use these around the world. I doubt a company selling scopes at that price bracket survive without military contracts.

What were the issues? Were they dealt with well?

Last S and B I purchased had floaters in it, sent it back and it was fixed. Took about 3 months. All products can have issues, it then becomes the support that counts.

But as you say, at that quality and price point much becomes personal preference.

The scopes are actually manufactured in Halifax? Halifax hosts a facility with the capability of manufacturing high grade optical devices?
That is quite an achievement.

Yes.
Also, if anyone reading this thread is now dissatisfied with their Tanget because of the story from the guy who knows a guy and would instead prefer a Schmidt, I know a guy.

Tangent Theta are absolutely top-shelf and we have feedback from DND and top-tier units on their testing and experience with various manufacturers.

Yes, manufactured in Halifax.

Our main line is Nightforce but we more than respect Armament Technology for developing and manufacturing world-leading scopes.

They have been received very well by the prs community and im sure if they were not of great quality it wouldve come to light rather quickly. PRS is rough on equiptment and it gets banged and bumped and wet, dirty etc. The turrets are probably turned more in a season of practice and competition than the majority used in police and military applications. Had the pleasure of shooting with four fellows from CSOR and was told about 30-40 hours of spotting for every round thats sent. Lots of watchin but not much trigger pullin.

Quote: "CSOR and was told about 30-40 hours of spotting for every round thats sent. Lots of watchin but not much trigger pullin." True in operations but SF units shoot a substantial amount in practice.

Tangent Theta and Armament Technology are one in the same. TT is a division of AT.

That's what I meant but worded it wrong. Armament Technology is the parent company for TT, and was for Premier Reticles as well. Armament Technology was purchased and moved to Halifax.

I have both a TT525P and a Premier 5-25x56. Aside from the shape of the eyepiece, the turrets and the finish, they appear to be mechanically identical. Optically, they are exactly the same, which is a good thing. IMO they are both the best glass I've ever used with close focus of 15 yards on 5x, and an infinity focus that works from 35 yards on out to, well, infinity... something my Nightforce and March can only dream about.

Again not quite. To be completely accurate TT purchased some equipment and the intellectual property rights to Premier Reticle, A US company that had been around since 1946. Armament Tech is and has always been a Canadian Company. Yes Tangent Theta products are distributed exclusively by Armament Technology Incorporated.

Mechanically the Elevation and Windage mechanisms are completely different, plus the TOOL-LESS RE-ZERO on their Pro models.

I stand corrected, thank you. So then has the erector tube and assembly changed, or just the obvious turrets and zero-stop mechanism? The scopes appear to be dimensionally identical. Also wondering if the glass changed, but you might be giving up too many trade secrets.

One problem with the older Premier was that when resetting the zero-stop with the top lever loose, the turret still clicked. It wasn't too reassuring but they sure nailed it on the TT P-series.
