Last week I was shooting at 1000 yards. The 3 other guys there couldn't even see the target with the naked eye. You could barely make it out with the S&B but it was no problem for the TT( of course I couldn't see the red bullseye but I had no problem aiming center target). That was a 1953-2000 hours . I probably could have went a while longer but what was the point. I was shocked at the difference between the S&B and TT . As a long range hunter this is exactly the kind of low light performance I am looking for.
What the TT gives up to the S&B is a nice warm high contrast image. For day time shooting the S&B has a more visually pleasing image in my opinion BUT the TT has higher resolution, sharper edge to edge , no tunneling and much better effective light transmission . The S&B is really a 7-25x56. As the tunneling effectively eliminates the field of view below 7. There is ZERO advantage to deceasing the power below 7 on the S&B as the field of view is exactly the same on 5 power as it is on 7 power.
Don't get me wrong. The S&B is a fantastic scope . It's just that well, I find the TT more fantastic.
