Tannerite Exploading Targets

Dont know about legality in Kanada, but I saw them in Vermont.
Just mix the 2 compound and it is ready to go, it is loud and powerful :)
5 lbs of dynamite is more fun, but tannerite will do ;)

Wasn't there a guy on this forum that got canned for posting how to make reative targets?

Yes there was and after repeated warnings he was removed from the board.

Making explosive compounds is not legal in Canada and as Savage posted, comes under the jurisdiction of the Explosives Branch.

SKBY.

In the case of tannerite, I wonder if the Explosives Branch would approve it for the approved explosives list, and under what conditions?

It and all the other binary explosives in the US were designed to work around the storage and licencing requirements in the US. Farmers and other users could keep ready access to explosives in binary form without the burden of shipping and storage and licencing restrictions. So long as they were used within 24 hours of mixing, all was kosher.

On the surface of it, I suspect with a whole lot of supporting docs the tannerite targets could be approved for use. IIRC, the detonation velocity of these is higher than most commercial detonators, so it's not readily convertable to an illegal use. (Like the booster charge for a U-haul full of ANFO)

Comments?!

Try it and tell us how it goes...
[that is try the legal approval route]

I'd like to say the Gov't would use common sense - but we have simply seem to many issues where they don't...

Oh well, the gov't dosen't think that we have enough common sence to handle firearms let alone handle anything that would go boom.

When looking at something like this just ask yourself ,"would this be cool to have fun with at the range ?". If the answer is yes then you already know that you can't have it.
