tapco duckbill mag review

i am about to purchase one and i wanted to know how good they are, and if they keep the bolt open wen empty? im doing more for the look, but i want it to still work without a problem. my sks is a chinese one i was wondering if that would have any effect on it??
 
The tapco mags work well, but no better than the metal duckbill mags that are available. The problem with the tapco mags is that the stock need altering to make them fit. The 30 round metal ones need no alteration to the stock. The 30 round metal ones look much better .
 
i know that but the wen the mag is empty a peaice on the box mag pushes the bolt stop up, i bought a 5 ropund mag that didnt do that its a real B!TCH to deal with, i wanna know if the tapco one pushes it up
 
my stock worked just fine without any altering.

The metal mags are hit and miss. I have 3 sks and 4 metal mags and find a bit of variation between them, despite the fact that they are the same maker, and came together. The top lips and the follower angle seem slightly different from mag to mag. The fit is off on one as well, as is the rear tab on another (easily fixed with a little ingenuity). The tapco 20 rounders fit all guns very snug, but without mods, and fed perfectly with no stovepipes. Bolt hold open works on all of them, but I do find reloading them with stripper clips while in the gun is a bit of a pain on one. The guide seems slightly further back then the magazine, an issue that didn't exist with the metal mags and that particular rifle. Over all, I think the tapco is the way to go, having much tighter tolerances and consistancy.
 
These guys didn't seem to have a problem, but I sure did. I bought a 5 round tapco plastic duckbill mag and tried putting in my norenco sks... It needed a bit ov shaving just to make it fit, and once it was in, it impeded the bolt/firing pin mechanism... I eventually scrapped it and went back to a fixed mag. Seems to be very hit or miss...

it all depends on where you get the mags from. All the mags I bought from Killercain fit and feed perfectly. I bought six:)
 
Got a TAPCO 20 rd mag in the US (pinned by a cop buddy to 5) and have emon my son's and my Russians. Both took a little filing to work really well with strippers but now the rounds slide in like butter and never a jam.

Oh, small point; it's when--not wen. You want folks to take you seriously.
 
Would not buy one again. Mine suffered a major failiure as the side snapped off. As you can only have 5 rds anyway save your money and use the factory mag
