I looked up reviews and people seem to be satisfied with how much easier the front sight is to see. However, I have read that people stated that they might melt under intense heat after shooting. Can anyone verify this?

It probably would but with five rounds per mag how intense is it gonna possibly be?

Depends on how many detachable mag dumps a gravel pit ninja performs.

Aside from heat melting them, I could also see them weakening from solvent exposure when cleaning the muzzle. Much like how cheap shotgun followers melt and become deformed.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a more rugged alternative? (Y'know, if there is one, besides the stock post)

Magwedge is talking about making narrower target front posts. I'd suggest waiting for that and paint it red/white/orange for visibility. HiCal used to have the narrow front sights but I'm not sure if they can get them anymore.

I don't think HiCal can, they haven't had any in quite some time.

You can make your stock post skinnier by chucking it in a drill and using a flat file. I haven't done it yet, but it's on my ever growing to do list.
