I was recently putting to get her a group buy for 8 people. SKS & ammo combos. I tried the usual online sources, but a local shop has agreed to match online prices. So we will be going with the local guy and not worry about shipping charges.

In my search for the best deal, I found out that some dealers are whispering about a distributor offering SKS rifles available in tapco intrafuse stocks, with a 5/20 mag and a fore grip. The story I have heard is that the rifles will be fitted to the stocks and tested to ensure function then boxed.

Anyone else heard about these yet?

So far I haven't been able to nail down a price on them either......

I did get a call yesterday, they're in at the LGS, so it's on my list to look at them and see what I can see!

i bought one about a year and a half ago from frontier as well, tapco stock, 5/20 round magazine, and forgrip. It was about $200 more to have them install the tapco furniture then if i just bought the sks with the stock wood furniture.

Well that's good to know..... I am actually behind the times!

Pricing is actually pretty good. Add up the cost of an SKS, stock, fore grip and DM and that's what the rifle costs.....

No bayo (it's removed) factory mag or wood stock...... So you can't go back to stock config.....

The 10 I saw today, only 2 were worth a fack. The rest were rusty in and out, 4 didn't even have chromed bores (Tula '51) at least it didn't look it, rusty, dirty pitted bores...... The best of the lot was a very nice 52 Tula...... Appeared unfired despite the r after the year marking on the action cover.....

If I was to "desire" a tapco'd SKS, this would likely be the way to go.......

One thing about buying locally, I can give them a good look over before buying!

All in all it's a decent price, the "group buy" is off. Everyone gets to go down to the LGS and pick-up and pay for their rifle and ammo and my credit card doesn't take the hit!

yep Ive seen them around gun stores here too, some are even offering them in the ati stocks as well

Just an FYI... In case you thought that the "r" after the date stamp meant refurbished...

The letter is a Cyrillic "г" ("g" sound as in "get") and is an abbreviation for the Russian word "год" which means "year" in English (pronounced "gawd").

1951 г literally means nineteen fifty one year with the date as an adjective to the word year.

Good to know!

I have 2 SKS rifles already, both are tulas, and are marked '51 & '52. Neither of them have the "r" after the year. Neither of mine appear to be "refurbished" (not that I am an expert by any means), so I made an assumption.....

Cheers!
