Hello all,
Greetings from St. Petersburg, FL. This is the only place I have found with several posts on the Tara TM-9 Gen 1 9mm. I picked one up from Atlantic Arms here in the US after a gentleman at my range let me shoot his. Loved the double action second strike DARE trigger. He had replaced the factory striker spring with a Glock 17 reduced power spring and the trigger was sweet at about 6 lbs. I did the same, but my particular gun came with 2 original magazines that are just not feeding. It appears that the springs are not providing the tension needed to reliably feed the pistol. I have ordered Glock 17 springs and will dry lube the inside of the magazines. Any thoughts? Has anyone encountered this issue and come up with a fix? I love this pistol and do not want to give up on it. Thanks for any help.

Hi rustyusar, and welcome.
Canadian magazines have to be limited to 10 rounds maximum capacity, and with the Tara I had this was done by someone, somewhere, using a punch or similar to dent in both sides of the magazine body, restricting it's capacity. On mine this interfered with the compression and release movement of the mag. spring and follower, was a general pain in the a$$, and also made stripping the mag. another p.i.t.a..
My Tara had feeding hang-ups when the top of the loaded brass case would contact the front of the magazine body when being pushed ahead by the slide as the follower angle wasn't just right. I filed a small shallow U shape in the front of the two magazine bodies to avoid this contact and that fixed the problem with that particular pistol. I was shooting 124gr. copper-plated Campro round nose bullets.

Thanks DaveF, I appreciate the response. I'm lucky enough to be able to purchase the 17 round variety Tara mags as there are no restrictions in Florida for magazine capacity...yet. I received my Glock 17 springs today and they were similar enough to the old, obviously worn out Tara mag springs, so I installed them. I loaded up regular 9mm ammo easily and they took 16 rounds with no issue. I finger cycled them out of the mag and they popped right out with good upward force. Finally, I loaded six 9mm snap caps in a mag and cycled them by hand through the pistol and I think I might be golden. Excited to get to the range and see if I have solved it. Appreciate the follower fix idea but I think the new springs may have done it! Take care.

I bought my Tara because it was very cheap and I was curious about how it would shoot. I've been very happy and surprised with the performance of this pistol.

I know this is a bit late, but I did finally get a chance to try my Tara with the original mags with Glock 17 springs and the pistol functioned perfectly. I ended up putting a 5 lb striker spring to replace the 4 lb because I had some light primer strikes. The gun is working reliably now with the mods and I am pleased. Hope this helps someone else.

Besides the heavy trigger pull of the first shot, this is one of the most accurate 9 mm's I've shot(believe it or not).

And my mags seemed to need breaking in, as they are all reliable after shooting a few clips full.
