Target Bolt Action 22

I am looking into building a target/varmint 22 and am wondering if anyone knows were i can find a used remington 40x for a donar action. Or if anyone knows of any other actions that will make a good canidate. I would prefer a repeater but am not against single shot actions. Thank you!

It would be a lot cheaper and easier to just buy a CZ 452/or 453 Varmint.

That is, if you can still find one.

They are tack drivers too.

I already own two CZ 452s and yes they are both tack drivers but am wanting something similar to a cross between a Cooper jackson hunter and pheonix. Composite sporter stock with a stainless varmint taper barrel. Maybe i will give Prophet River a shout and see what Cooper can do...$$$...

Stiller makes a 40x clone and is in the process of designing a repeater version. I beleive North Shore Barrels deals in Stiller actions. I would recommend Ron Smith for your barrel.

a 40x repeater, you might start at around $3K if you are lucky to find one. a Sako action is not a bad one to use, the 94 is used a lot in the BR world In fact a Sako Quad might impress you, easier to find than a 40x

$3K would be a steal on a 40x repeater. The ones that I have seen sell lately, went for around $5K.

Contact Jerry Stiller on the availability of the 25X action which is the repeater - he may have them ready. North Shore Barrels ,a sponsor on CGN, can get you one. Sean posts on here as 'juanvaldez'.
There are lots of barrels out there - but if you want a good rimfire barrel have a look what's being used by RF shooters who specialize in accurate rifles. Checkout Benchrest Central/Rimfire section and RimfireCentral.
Lilja,Broughton,Shilen and Benchmark are the barrels to use. Expect to pay as much for a custom RF rifle as you would a custom CF - possibly more because there's more fiddling around with extractor cuts and other milling specific to RF builds.

An alternative to a custom would be a Cooper as you have said or an Anschutz 54 series repeater like a 1700,1710 or 1712. Or an older donor 54 action rifle for the action and get a barrel threaded on.
Any of these should outperform a CZ, but they should too !
