Target clays= pollution??

Im mo expert, but I'm told the lead issue only actually comes up with lead that had been micropulverised, as they used to do with fuel and paint. Lead from projectiles is inert, much like lead in the ground.

I believe this is another canard to scare the public.

The vast majority of clays shooters shoot lead. The clays are made from pitch and crushed limestone.

The limestone would make the soil basic (as opposed to acidic). Basic soils slow down the oxidation of lead shot and subsequent contamination of the groundwater. Some ranges routinely treat the soil with lime.
