Target loads for fussy guns

The Winchester steel base tin or aluminum coated shells expand and stay expanded, jamming in this old Wingmaster. Tight on the base and the plastic. For comparison a Remmy Nitro falls in and out after firing.
The Citori has way more clearance and desn't care.

Recommendations for cheapish target loads that behave?

It varies from gun to gun and you'll probably have to try different ones. IMO, the Winchester Super Target is crap. Federal Top Gun is better but I hate the smell. Best of the promo loads in my guns at least are the Remington Gun Club. I'd rather spend a little more and shooter Challenger or Kent.
 
For 12 gauge, I like Challenger, no problems in any of my shotguns, and when they go on sale, they are the cheapest loads that I have access to.

True enough about Challenger. With the current state of the Canadian dollar many of the U.S. promo brands are now more expensive. SAIL for example is currently charging the same price for Super Target and Challenger. At the same price buying Canadian-made Challenger is a no-brainer.
 
Remington Gun club and Challenger are mostly used by our club member without problem, gun club being prefered. We see an occasionnal no-fire with Challenger even if primer was punched good.

Avoid cheap Winchester.

Challenger and Score are both made with the same cheddite hull . Not sure why you would have ejection issues with one and not the other .

I was under the impression from an article I read that primers were cheddite and that Score made their own hulls or sourced from multiple suppliers hence why their were inconsistencies in base material heights. At least that was what I had read though I have no personal experience.

I'd be looking to have the problem gun fixed, possibly with a polishing of the chamber.
I shoot any brand, including cheap promotional loads, in a very wide variety of double, single, and pump guns and do not have extraction issues. Most cartridges have steel based hulls these days.
Super Targets are not bottom of the list, but second only to Winchester Universal at the bottom.
 
Other than one 3-1/2" chambered SX-3 that will misfeed once per round of skeet on average with the Super Targets, I have no shotguns that give me issues with any shotshells. And my 3" SX-3 cycles every cheap load flawlessly.

Hard to find anything lower on the list than Universals!! LOL

Polishing/cleaning the chamber was my thought too.
 
I have bought 12 pallets of Score shells over the last 3 years and all the shooters at our club like them . No where near the issues we had with Super targets prior to buying Score. Their new 1100 fps 1oz load is awesome for the first shot in doubles and I have broken many 25's with them at the 16 yard line. Still recovering from shoulder surgery and can't wait to get back shooting again.

From my experience, the Score's are light years ahead of Super targets.

That could very well be the case the 2 boxes of score I came across were actually steel waterfowl 3" shells . the hull was a cheddite or a very good copy assumed the target shell would be cheddite as well .
 
I found that Challenger and especially cheap Winchester seemed to have slightly different diameters. I find myself pushing some shells into the chamber and then they expand more and don't fully eject. The Scores drop in and eject cleanly and almost hit the scorekeeper. It almost seems like some of the Challengers have bulged a little when they were loaded.
 
After shooting Federal for years I tried Score for the first time last night. 23,22,23,23 which is very good for me. I average 21 ish and have trouble with Station 5. Zero issues out of 100 shots and hit everything at station 5. Hope next Thursday eve is the same experience!
