We're setting up a new 5-stand at our range. We're looking at three new machines that we want to have permanently or semi-permanently set up on the course. Our range is new ground so is still fairly dusty. I'm looking for weather/dust proof and secure proof manufactured covers for the machines. I've found EZ Sportsman covers on line: https://www.ezsportsman.com/ . Has anyone got any experience with these covers? We can build covers, but are looking for something light and manageable by all age groups and physical abilities. Any other ideas or suggestion would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Most machine manufacturers also offer weatherproof covers, usually made from some kind of fabric. Or these could be easily made by any canvas or tent shop, pick your colour of choice. Of course if you want rigid covers they could be easily made from plywood by anyone with basic carpentry skills, you must have someone in your club that matches that description.

Fabric won’t offer the security we need. We can build the covers, but wanted to check for something like a a moulded plastic cover.
EZ Sportsman makes such a product , but is south of the border.

We at the Oshawa Clay & Target club have 75 custom made machine boxes. They are manufactured by one of our members who has a fabricating shop. They are all on wheels with a trailer hitch connector. easy to move around and keeps everything secured in them. they are made with 1 inch tubular frame and aluminium sides. Some of the are over seven years old. If you would like to see some pictures email me, bert_p@rogers.com.

Just get a few of these water tanks and cut the bottoms out. Slide them over top of the machine when not in use....they are about 4' square and very common. There is lots of surplus units around. The units in the pic were made into animal shelters hence the side door cutout.

We tried the calf boxes 20 yrs. ago and we found it was to much trouble opening and closing them up everyday. They are a problem trying to move around when trying to reset targets and we also had trouble securing the with some type of door. Every critter within 100 miles of the club moved moved into them, skunks, foxes, coyotes, possum and even an owl one year. The enclosure's we have now work great for all of our sporting machines applications and they are easy to secure at the end of each day.
