Well i decided to go back to iron sights for my 1944 Mosin M91/30, I don't like the mount(junk) and the whole scout idea. The scope is fine but I just like iron sight on this kind of gun, I am considering a PU type scope and mount though. The shots are marked according to the yardage in the pics. the 150 yard shots are horrendous but my eyesight isn't quite up to par and I found it difficult to see but the 75 yard shots are a bit better. I was using 182 gr Hungarian surplus. People post your milsurp targets and show everyone how well these classics can shoot. :sniper:Blake

I would argue that your 150 yards eye isn't that bad. May I offer the following (based on not that much shooting experience, so don't quote me on this).

75 yards show ok grouping, a bit to the left and high.

150 yards show almost a similar situation, for (almost) three shots. Did you over compensate for the 150 yards? (I mean, they are way high, and maybe your ammo doesn't drop that much over 150 yards...)

I think you shoot better than you'll admit :)

Thanks for the advice....I find that it shoots very high as well. I set the sights as low as they go for the 75 yard shots, and 150 for the 150, i'm gonna try to see if I can do anything with the sights and try again. There was a strong head wind while I did my shooting but it shouldn't have any effect at these distances I wouldn't think. I'll post new targets after I get the sights setup a little better.
Thanks Blake

Weird how there are all those little holes around the bullet holes. Almost like something was fragmenting off of the bullet.

I've had gravel blow through the paper when I hit a little low of the mark ;)

All the little holes are from the rust on the metal plate I had the target taped to and the bullet impact force the paper into the loose rust.

I had some nice shots from about 50 yards with my M1, but I can't post any pictures as my shotgun later obliterated the target.

From the same distance, I actually blew a target to pieces with my Lee Enfield.

Here are some I shot sunday
50yrds sight in, the last one was the group marked 5

for some reason as soon as the barrel cool a bit the first few shots are to the right as the 100 yrd target shows. Maybe I should pack the barrel a bit. Anyway, this load has potential. Lee 180gr .314 gaschecked 32grs of h335.

Nice shooting!! I fixed my sights, small drop of white paint on the front sight post to build it up a bit higher and makes it alot easier to see darker targets and is a permanent modification. I'll do some shots tomorrow to see if it actually helps, and I'll post pics. Gotta love WW2 milsurps. Keep the pics rollin'!!
