Target Revolvers !!

Which Target revolvers seem to be considered best/most accurate ect. I shoot a sw model 17 and love it, but seldom see anyone else shooting a taget revolver at the club. Generally everyone seems to favor semis.
Granted there are some things a semi is better for than revolver.
 
Every gun safe should have a revolver in it, even if you're a semi-auto lover. A model 17 would be a good choice to learn on. You could practice single and double action and you would never wear it out.
Of course, sooner or later you want to feel the blast from .357 and .44 mag!
 
Yup... Ive got a 686, old army, single six and one or two others I cant think of right now, but Im wondering about the .22 cal target stuff?
 
S&W Model 17 .22 lr

I started out in handguns with wheelguns. Then graduated to pistols when if you wanted a .45 it was a 1911, usually Colt or surplus USGI pistol, or the Sig with the European butt heal mag release. Your most common hi-cap 9mm's were BHP's, S&W 59's & Beretta 92's. 'Course that was before polymer, rails & all the other crap [er, I mean "tricked out toys" ] that has followed... but I digress...:p

A S&W Model 17 is a great choice for a target handgun. Granted most handgun shooters favour the semi's now. But heck if you are enjoying your wheelgun, that's the main thing. ;) :D
 
A model 14 S&W is just about the finest target revolver you can buy, I regret not having one at the moment, Oh wait, I can shoot my wifes. I also have a mint 1956 colt python and i'm afraid to say that it is only equal to the model 14 in single action.
 
I had an original S&W model 16 (K-32) - 32 long - that was made in the 1950s - sweet trigger and really accurate. Sold it (but hope to get it back one day). Until then - my Colt Python is used for accuracy work.

"...everyone seems to favor(sic) semis..." Mostly because they're target pistols. Quicker for the timed and rapid stages.
 
Also, most .22 revolvers start with a slight technical disadvatage. The bullet flies an awful long way before it slams into the rifling.
 
I find the S&W Performance Center 627 .38Spl/.357Mag to be extremely accurate.

I highly suggest if you can, give that revolver a go.
