I am interested in starting out shooting TR. I am not too sure which type of rifle to begin shooting with. Is there one action that is better than another or what type of things should I be looking at?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
 
I am looking at a factory or more resonably priced custom rig. I can modify as needed butam looking to make sure that the TR shooting discipline will suit me. As such I don't want to throw a lot of money at it right in the beginning.
 
By "TR shooting discipline", do you mean Target Rifle as shot by Provincial Rifle Associations, and the DCRA?
 
For a starter gun, the Savage Palma Rifle would be everything you need in one package, less attachments. Alternatively, there are many great used TR rigs out there. The best part about a used rig is the fact you wil likely have the sights - or at least the mounts for sights.

Paul Reibin is a Life Governor with the DCRA and he also sells used TR rifles. and every single accessory for a TR rifle. He would be a good guy to chase down. He is a phone guy only

What's your shooting background? Do you hunt? What other firearms do you own? Were you in the military or cadets? How close are you to a fullbore or smallbore range/club?

Rather than just listing options it would help if we knew a little bit more about your background and any goals/dreams you might have.

I have been shooting for six or seven years, I don't hunt but I was in the military for five years. I have access to both a fullbore and smallbore club. I currently have a savage 16 in 223, a savage 12 F/TR in 308 (F class rig), and an RRA AR-15 in 223 WYLDE.

I am looking to compete in TR in the ORA and DCRA.
