Hey Everyone, I first want to say that I have never been in a competitive shoot before but I was wondering what targets competitions use. How does the point system work on the targets and what distance? I want to start shooting open sights .22 at 100 yards. Is there a specific target for this? What about some of the old military targets. I would love to get a scan or picture of a target for .22 that was used "back in the day" I appreciate any feedback from any of you who are patient enough to reply. Thanks again.

You will likely be able to download some targets from the SFC site.
50m ISU target fpr match rifle has a 1mm X .
You can also download a .22palma target on the Palma site.

Hi Lazysod, seems weird calling you that, not knowing you!
The 50 meter ISSF target has a 113 mm black, with a 10 mm 10 ring, 26 mm 9 ring, 42mm 8 ring, etc. The 100 yard target is twice the size.
Shots are scored to the higher value, that is, if a line is just touched, it counts the higher value.
At our national matches, targets are in Gamen boxes, in a roll, and 2 shots are shot on each bull, and target advanced to next one, for 60 shots prone, or 120 shots in 3 positions.
The more common target has 6 bulls on it, 2 sighters and 4 scoring. 5 shots are shot on each scoring bull.
The 100 yard target has 3 bulls, one sighter, 2 scoring.
They are available from Shooting Federation of Canada.
Hope this helps.

Great, thanks for all the information. I recently picked up some generic 100 yard targets for smallbore and they start the scoring at 10 in the bullseye and work their way out to 5 from there. It seems that there are many scoring methods. Thanks again for all the info!
