This is not right. The reason the Americans have lashed out as Canada is that Canada’s industries enjoy more and higher trade barriers than do US industries wanting to sell to Canada.

This is the fault of all on BOTH sides over the years who negotiated and settled the agreements

That having been said: the US sees Canada’s self-created economic weakness and over-reliance on the US. And THIS is largely the fault of Trudeau and Team, and the voters that continue to vote for deficit spending and money printing and endless social programming.

Get competitive, Canada! Get a move-on!

Don’t blame D Trump. Blame the decades of unbalance industry protectionism (existing tarrifs and quotas) here at home.

I know it's the US side that is responsible for who enteres but if most of the people being caught are recent newcomers to Canada on a student visa or captured in the USA. It all comes back to JT - this buy Canadian BS doesn't stop me from buying US made goods. I think most of Canada, minus those who promote and desire fascism, supported the aid to Ukraine. A democratic country invaded by commies should have our full support. Trump who's obviously KOMPRIMISED is moving toward his own dictatorship and already using quid pro quo to steal Ukraines resources...pathetic!

I don’t support the aid to one of the most corrupt nations on earth, Obama and the Clinton’s with the help of the cia started a coupe against the elected president in 2014 and installed a actor to play president and act like a dictator also funded and proped up by a Natzi Igor kolomoisky. When the peace agreement I think called Minsk was set Russia was told not to advance anymore territory and nato wouldn’t either but nato did the opposite and militarized almost every country surrounding Russia . On top of all that you have the azoff battalion rapeing and slaughtering pro Russia Ukrainians . Zelenskyy was an actor that played actor that became a president of Ukraine on a tv show up until 2018. Not sure you know this but Canada places tarrifs on ever single thing that the us sells here so calling trump a dictator for putting his country first while we live with a dictator is absurd

I want to second this, in really simple terms:

- A major contributing cause (amongst many) of the Russia / Ukraine War was NATO relentless expansion. The West was warned by Russia constantly. The West "poked the tiger" one too many times by threatening Ukraine, and other nations', admission to NATO.

- Yes, Canada places high tariffs on a multitude of US goods and services, keeping them out. The Americans have a valid beef with us. Protected industries here need to be under pressure to be competitive instead of protected. Frankly, I want cheaper banking services, cheaper home and auto insurance, cheaper cheese and wine, cheaper cable and internet. Etc Etc.

End the war. Peace brings prosperity.
End trade barriers. Let the protected industries restructure. Free trade brings prosperity.

You can believe ultra right propaganda. Not many do and that's good for Canada.
 
If Trump wanted to expand access for US industries he could start by making all firearms exports free of export restrictions, other than actual military ones (so no BS about it's a military conceptually, but ends up sold here anyway).
 
Incoming tariffs are just a tax on Canadians. What are the chances they will collect them but then distribute them as on the purported model for the carbon tax. Carney is actually proposing an alternative carbon tax that will be a tariff, and doubtless get mirrored by the US. When did everything the government does become crazy. The libs will love the tariffs, to the extent they happen and the country survives at all. It is double the GST.
