Was hunting on foot most of the day yesterday, decided to spend the last hour and a half of daylight in one of my tree stands. I was giving a couple grunts every 20 minutes and about an hour into the production a nice little eight pointer came into the edge of the clear cut and started licking at a branch. He was about four licks in when my 1895 barked and put a nice clean 45 calibre hole behind his shoulder.
To get to the point, I have another deer tag for the muzzleloader and 40 days to fill it and am wondering if any of you utilize the tarsal glands from a buck to use as cover scent or a lure when you are calling.
Thanks
