Tasco 4-16x40 scope issue

Before you guys post you get what you pay for, all I'm seeking is a possible clue as to what went wrong.

I recently attached this scope to my Edge in .308. I was sighting it in on a target at 50 yards.

Maybe about 8 shots in to the target, the image through the scope became blurry. I checked the AO it was still set to 50 yards. Focus was fine but the image was blurry, I brought down the power and I regained clarity but I could no longer use higher powers.

My second test was checking the image at 100 yards, I tried changing AO to 100 yards and it was blurry, I managed to get clarity when the A) was set to 30 yards.

Google searches havent really resulted in similar issues, just poor focus of the reticle.

Any hints?
 
I have the same problem with a 1-7 power tasco. Bought it used real cheap; now I know why. It works fine 1-3.5 power, then will not focus higher than that at any range. Is there a fix?

Not hijacking, just have same problem........

Most likely you had bad luck and your scoped went belly up right away.

You can definitely get lucky with cheap scopes and have them work well for many years, but they can also crap out fairly quickly.

I'd persue a warranty repair right away.
