Tasco 6-24x-42

Got one on a 22-250, it works alright....holds zero but the optics aren't real good after about 12X. Does the job for me though... those crosshairs have seen alot of yotes!! If I was you I would take a look at a Bushnell Legend 5-15 Mil Dot.... my old man has one... a better scope for not a whole bunch more dough!! And IMO 15x is lots of power... especially if the main use is yotes.

Tasco 6-24 varmint is very shaky quality wise.I had one and could not get clear sight picture.Other people I know had them and sent back on warranty several times before they got one that would work right.Banner would be better choice, legend would beat banner.Weaver v16 would be my choice.Cost more than banner but much better.

Tasco Taget/Varmint 2.5-10x42mm AO Mil-dot

Not exactly the same scope but.... I've got a Tasco Varmint/Target 2.5-10x42mm AO mil-dot on my Rem 7 in .223... gives good service.

stay away from a 6-24 as the glass on those cheap scopes are crap. Most I would go for is a 12x as mentioned above, even on my Elite 4200 I find it pretty fuzzy at 24x and seldom go over 16x power.

I've got the same scope on my .17HRM.....it works, not great but it kills gophers out to 200-250 yards. I can't get it to focus after about 21-22x so I keep her at 20x max.

For the money, it's not terrible. I'm very careful not to bump this rifle and scope around as I don't trust the scope holding the zero. After every big bump/jolt, I get the paper out and test zero. So far, it has held....but like I say, I've never really trusted it.

Good enough scope to get out shooting with. Will upgrade in the future, but I wasn't going to let a lack of funds get in the way of me shooting!

RancheroMan thats along the line I am thinking, don't really have the money for anything really good right now but for a 100 bucks I thought it will do for now.

Ya, for $100 its ok.

Wonder how many rounds it would last mounted on a 50

Re:Tasco 6-24

I have one on my SL8-4 and it seems good so far. Holds zero and the mil-dot kicks ass. I only have around a hundred rounds through it and am still getting it dialed in but it is consistant. As stated in previous posts you have to fiddle with the parallax to get good focus at high magnification but I don't usually need that kind of zoom except when shooting from a bench anyway so it's not a big deal to me.
Good bang on a budget for sure.

I just bought one yesterday and mounted it on my savage 93 22 mag. I love it. My only gripe is I think I have excessive parralax at the settings on the scope. With the gun steadied I can move my eye and the cross haris move like crazy. Might just need to move the parralax around. This also only seemed to happen at the highest power. I could get decent focus all the way up to 24 power. The funnest part of the day was firing at a hillside at about 220 yards. If I used the last mill dot I was close to right on. I think I could hit a pie plate every time at that range. Next time out I hope to place some clays out that far and see how it goes.... Clarity of the scope is pretty good to. especially at a distance. It was at its worst under 50 yards. Was plenty bright enough for me. not as bright as my fullfield but as good as my trophy. I looked that this tasco and older model made in taiwan and a bushnell banner 6-24. Of them all I thought this one was the best...optically. It also had the best price.......which was nice. Now I just need to find more ammo for the mag. I've cleaned everyone out.

made in taiwan..

Good info, thanks, I have one of these Tasco 6X24...tried to sell it but may end up keeping it...was on my Rem 22-250, did well, I paid almost $200 in the 90s...but Tasco now has it at half the price...(made in china). Mine is made in Taiwan and it seems to mean something with regard to quality.
cheers

I had one on a 223 for several years. Seemed to hold zero fine through all the bumps and knocks it took. I just didn't care for the clarity at the upper magnifications.

Ever consider buying a good qualty used scope. It would be from someone you could trust however. I bought my Leopold VXII used and it is flawless.
Maybe you could get something like Burris or Simmons better quality for a much better price. Not a Kahles but hey $100 is what your working with right??!
