Hi guys,

Im just bouncing a few ideas around here, and am looking at different options for a rifle im getting, a Ruger#1 in .220 Swift. I have the chance to get a vintage Tasco model 705 6-18x40. its in mint condition, and is the older Unertl type. Im wondering if there is a mount available for the Ruger #1 for this type of scope? Do I need to bring it to a gunsmith to get a base mounted further up the barrel? The Ruger has a heavy barrel, and no sights, needless to say. I did a brief search and didnt find anything on this. Anyone help me out?

thanks for now,

Thanks guys....

But DAMN!! I emailed the guy whos sending me the #1, it was mailed yesterday.... It sounds like there are mounting holes up on the barrel for a long tube scope. And I emailed the guy with the Tasco 705, and he sold it 20 minutes ago!! I just missed it! It was in perfect condition, and a good price. Just my luck. If the seller would have replied an hour earlier, I would have bought it. Oh well.

I have a Zeiss Conquest in my sights now..... I really wanted to compliment the Ruger with a long tube scope, it would have kept it in its era, if you know what I mean? The 705 is a good scope too, made in Japan, when Tasco made decent stuff. And variable power as well.

Ill post some pics of the rifle when its done.... ;-)

There is a place in the states that make the old style scopes. You could also look at the older Redfield scopes if your wanting a longer scope.
