I'm looking for oppinions on the Tasco Varmint 2.5X10 scope on rimfires. I know this is alower end scope but was wondring how they hold up to high volume rimfire use to 100M. Do they keep their zero ? How do you find clarity etc. I've had one in my hands and they don't seem too bad for a $90 scope.

If it isn't 1 inch tube, shockproof, waterproof, and fogproof, don't put it on anything but a pellet gun.

Pellet guns and semiauto .22s are actually a lot harder on scopes than any centerfire bolt gun. Ths slamming of the bolt on a semi (or the spring piston on an airgun) will knock all but the most robustly constructed scopes out of alignment. I have knocked the reticle clean off a cheap scope with a 10/22. Look ma, no crosshairs!

Sorry, no opinion on the Tasco you are looking at. None of the tascos I have owned inspired much confidence for me.

I just put a $250 leupold rifleman 3-9x40 on my 10/22 after the chinese mark4 clone reticle fell off..... definatly well worth the money the rifleman line from leupold.

from now on this is the cheap scope I am buying.... this 10/22 is my grouse gun.

I think you would be better off spending a big extra and getting something better; even the Bushnell Banner 6-18x50 or something like that would be a good compromise.

Not on a pellet gun! They require a very strong scope made for heavy spring recoil forces. Very, heavy duty shockprook designed just for high powered pellet guns. Differant recoil forces at work here. BSA make a good pellet gun scope, not Tasco.

Tasco are the bottom of the bin and the warranty sucks. The Bushnel line is similar in price, but with a better warrenty.

Personal I would spend a lot more money than $90.00 and get a quaility scope that will last.

I've had one on my Ruger 10-22 for close to 10 000 rounds and love it. Good cheap scope for the money, just don't depend on it on anything that recoils more than a rimfire.....

Not sure about a .22 but I have that scope on a Remington 7 in .223 and it's been a good scope for it. Decent value for the money, IMHO. Probably wouldn't trust it on something larger, though. ;)

News flash; Tasco = Bushnell. Bushnell now deals with ALL warranty work for Tasco, since they bought the company last year. New Tasco scopes are equal in quality to low-end Bushnell scopes (ie; the Banner series). If you get a Tasco that was made last year, or the year before (date of manufacture is printed on the bottom of the eye-bell) they'll still be made-in-thailand quality, but if it breaks you can send it to Bushnell and they'll basically replace it with a brand new Tasco that will be much more reliable. I've got one of the older Tasco 6-24x42mm mildot Varmint scopes on my SKS, more for LCF than long-range accuracy, but it's held up just fine. There's no way a 10/22 rattles and bangs as much as an SKS :p Do it up!

I have a 6 X 24 tasco with the mildots

It works well. Adjustable objective. With Mildots you can engage targets from 25 yards out to 300 yards with out adjusting the elevation. On my rifle this works with a 200 yard zero.

REX 3-9x40AO

I will try my REX 3-9x40 on my Marlin bolt, it's built for heavy recoil airguns.
I don't think it will be a problem at all, it does very well on my Diana 350 mag.,
HW77 and XS-B40, they're average 850 - 1000 fps .22 airguns.
The lense on REX is much better than all my Tasco's and low end bushnell.
