yes i said it, . . . Tasco !! and please , no "you spend on optics what you spent on gun"

i currently have a few rifles for big game each with its purpose.
my long range weapon of choice its a heavily modified ruger no.1 7mag spitting 150 gr sciroccos at 3220 fps.

it is currently scope with bushnell trophy 3-9x40.
it prints pumpkin seed sized groups all day long provided barrel don't get too hot.

i am looking for more magnification for farther shots and since this $100 Bushnell has taken 500 rnds with no poi shift , can i expect the same from a tasco 4-16.

i found the new tasco's are not meant to go on a larger caliber as i have a 300 win mag and it was constantly going out of alinement. but pre 2003 tascos are good for anything.

I have used the current production Tasco Varmint 6-24x42 on 6.5x55, .308 and 30-06 without any problems.

7mm Mag is a step up in recoil however, but it still may be worth trying.

Why not go for another Bushnell?

Bushnell makes the taso varmint series i do believe

my 7mag is 10lbs with my 150gr loads it recoils much less than my 06. similar to my 303 in felt recoil

can illumitnated reticle be turned off and have a regular reticle? new production i cant get mildot non illuminated.

I had a Nikon Buckmaster on a 7mm RM and it would print 1"-1.5" groups from a rest. Put the Nikon on a different rifle and tossed a Tasco 3-9x40 "big-game" scope on the 7 RM. Sometimes it groups the same, sometimes the POI changes by up to 6". It's totally random. Seriously, you can never go wrong by spending money on optics.

Go with a Bushnell 3200 series, best bang for the buck

There is a whole whack of scopes in this price range that will not fail you.

I don't doubt that your trophy has held zero, but that is the exception not the norm. Also, has your rifle taken a big hit and the scope still help zero? When sheep hunting I slipped on some loose talus and fell. My rifle landed on its scope and even took a big chip out of the finish. The scope was a Zeiss conquest and it held it's zero perfectly, I would not trust a Bushnell trophy to hold its zero after that beating. When your out in the field you cannot always confirm your zero. Imagine missing a chance on an animal because you don't know if your scope held its zero after that last impact.

It's not like you have to spend big money to get dependability. Take a look at the Bushnell 3200, Nikon Buckmaster, Redfield Revolution, Leupold VX-1, Buriss Fullfield II.

I have 3 Tasco Scopes. 2 of them are the 6-24x42 and the other 1 is a 3-9x40. The only issue I have with these scopes is that the windage and elevation turrent knobs are flimsy and problematic. I find that they come lose too easy and "free wheel." If Tasco could sort that out, it would be an OK scope for the shooting I do.
