Can anyone tell me the exact model of this Taurus 9 shot 3" barrelled revolver? There is no model # on the cert and it does not look like the newer ones out there.

Also, if i wanted to change this barrel to a longer than 4", where could I get one?

It is Prohib yes, but the barrel is exactly 4" making it just a bit too short. Just measured mine, and yours looks the same.

Maybe you can get a smith to add something on to the end of the barrel?? But if you want to get a whole new barrel for it, I'm not so sure it would even be worth it?

Ist part, this not legal way , would still be 12-6 unless it was sleaved.
2 nd point, correct.
ALSO, if this is your one and only 12-6, you had better keep it like this , or
you will lose 12-6 .

i have a number of 12-6. just considering doing the longer barrel. as a 12-6 value is minimal and would be hard to sell, with a longer barrel it would sell a bit better, if i wanted to get rid of it. but then again, being a taurus would it even sell:p

anyhow the gun is like new, i love it and it is very good quality regardless that it is taurus made.

would a S&W barrel work? is there an equivalent S&W, knowing that taurus copied many of their designs.

I would think that as is it would be a 250-275.oo gun, 6 inch would
add 50.-100.oo to the price , so you may hard pressed to make it
pay, unless you luck onto a barrel cheap, then you have to take into
gunsmith charge to install as it would have to be indexed.
I have not sold one of these for years, so I could be out on the $"
BTW , I just bought a exc 38 snub nose like this for 150.oo
from one of the gang here.
