Does anyone have one of these? I have read and watched many reviews on this pistol and it seems to be average. I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced the PT1911.
Who sells the Taurus PT?

Thanks

one of the best bangs for the buck, compare the features with any other make and you will see the tue value, frankly if it was not a taurus it would retail for $1300

Awesome gun to have and shoot. While not the best 1911 out there, for the price its an amazing deal. I use it for IPSC, and it does an ok job. I had one issue where the plunger tube (the little cylindrical thing to the left of the safety) came off the gun, but it was fixable.

If I had the cash, I would probably buy another one. Anyone selling one in 9mm? :D

I had one when they first came out. I'm not a huge 1911 or .45 fan so ended up selling it, but it was an accurate and reliable gun.

Epps has at least one. <http://www.ellwoodepps.com/firearms_new_taurus_1.htm>

Freedom Ventures stocks them and distributes them, but doesn't retail them. <http://www.freedomventures.ca/>

Are the 9mm 1911s only available in 9+1? I've been looking at these myself....as much as I like the M&P, something still draws me to the 1911 platform. And at that price, only Norinco can beat them.

I'm not knocking the Taurus (I've got a PT-99 that's been very dependable) but in bang for your buck 1911's it's pretty hard to beat the new Ruger SR1911. I just bought one new from P&D Enterprises for $725 + tax & shipping. Stainless frame & slide with extended thumb safety, grip safety & mag release and Novak sights. Also it's a 70 series style so fewer doodads to worry about. All U.S. made too. Obviously not as cheap as Norincos but several hundred dollars cheaper than equivalent Kimbers, S&Ws, Sigs or STIs if money is a consideration for you.

Virtually all reviews so far have been very positive.

I don't know where in BC you live, but in the lower mainland International shooting supplies sells them. They had a deal on for a pt1911 with rail and laser light combo for $800 or so. I have also seen them at Reliable Gun. As far as 1911s go they are nothing to write home about. The fit and finish is decent. i would sy they are worth the price. but for $800 you are getting into STI Spartan territory. For a low end 1911 i woud go for a citadel over a taurus. i was amazed on the workmanship of the citadels for a $600 1911. I hear good things about norinco, but i have no experience with them.
