Does anyone out there know if any dealers/gunshops have any of the Taurus pump-action .22s in stock? I know SIR used to carry them but this year they've discountinued the line. I should've bought one when I had the chance. They suggested I buy the Henry pump, but I'm only interested in the Taurus, specifically the M62R or M62C. Does anyone know where to get one?

Also, if you own a Taurus rifle yourself what do you think of it? Thx.

There was a long thread here a while ago that Taurus will not ship parts to Canada. The Canadian distributor also won't bring in parts.
Several people talked about guns not useable for years due to no parts. Others got theirs from friends in the US.

So that pretty well killed it for Taurus guns as far as I am concerned.

Check the Epps web site. If they don't have new, they usually have one or two used.

Thanks for the tips Slash5. I remember now that discussion about Taurus parts, it's unfortunate that they (and the Canadian distributor) neglect the Canadian market like so many other US makers. However all the reviews of the M62 I read are quite favourable so I not that worried. Were people griping more about the handguns? Also, I live real close to the US border and have an address in N.D. to ship things to.

The real reason that I want this gun is to replace a much-worn family heirloom Winchester 62A. It's had decades of use and I want to retire it and get a Taurus instead. I checked out Epps website and they seem to have some in stock, though their price on the regular M62 is a fair bit steeper than SIRs. So far though, they're the only source I've got. I should've bought one in Winnipeg when I had the chance.

Other thoughts, anyone?

I've got a Rossi 62sa. I think Rossi was purchased by Taurus and is pretty much the same as the Taurus line of pump .22s except that the Rossi will shoot 22s, l and lr. I really enjoy walking in the woods and plinking with this rifle. I expecially like shooting the short cb caps. I think the Taurus will only shoot the lr's and only hold about 10 of those compared to 15 in the Rossi. Taurus also has the safety that some people don't like. From what I have read the finish is better on the Taurus than the Rossi though.

Yeah I like the looks of the Rossi better than the Taurus, more like the original. Not only does it not have those two safeties but it also handles S,L & LR, like you said. Only thing is I'd prefer to buy NIB (or like-NIB) and that'll be a little harder with the Rossi. Yeah, I too have read that the finish on the Taurus is a little better, and that the tolerances are tighter due to the gun being limited to .22LR (I don't know if this is true or not, however)

Does anyone know who the distributor for Taurus in Canada is?

I think I saw one at Shooters Choice. They are pretty good about answering emails - try them.

Also, Gobels has them listed on their web site - you would have to email them to check stock.

That's funny, I had just sent an E-mail off to SIR enquiring if they will be selling the Taurus 62 pump again. They carry Taurus handguns so I don't see why there would be an issue with them carrying Taurus rifles? Maybe if enough people show interest they will consider bringing them in again.
