Perhaps there has been a thread on this before. I was wondering what knd of quality, durability, accuracy etc. this brand of firearm had. In specific the Raging Bull and the Tracker. How do they compare to Ruger ?

Thanks for your input

Raging Bull .44mag owner here :)

I'm not even a revolver guy but I just had to get the RB in stainless after I saw it in a magazine a couple of years ago (I'm not into SA old school guns and RB is simply not another revolver) it's just gorgeous...

The accracy is great, the trigger I believe DA trigger is 9 lbs (very smooth though) and 4.5 lbs in SA, (seams even lighter since there's basically no pull to it; you just apply the pressure and it goes off, no over-travel what so ever ) Porting almost eliminates muzzle flip but it still kicks a bit (well it's a .44) it also makes for a nice fireworks display...

One can say what ever they want about Taurus but if they don't want to make a fool of themselfs they better not bash this gun; it was the first ever DA .454casul (so .41, 44 and .480 are a peice a cake for the gun to handle). BTW Taurus is making a RB in .500s&w (it actually was supposed to be out by now) so that should pretty much cover the durability part of your question.... ;)

The only potentially bad thing I can think of is the size and the weight; this gun is friggin' huge and weighs 55oz (6.5in model), not recommended for shooters with girly hands either. But I really don't mind any of that in fact for me it's a plus.

I've handled Tracker in .22 it looked fine (same finish as on the Raging Bull), but the grip was too small for me and too 'rubbery' I think you know what I mean.

I have to say this is probably not the best forum to ask about Taurus guns since most people here (in Canada) have no experience with them, but many are eager to bash them :(. In the US Taurus has a fairly good reputation...

Ruger is a strong gun but redesign is way overdue, basically same ol' same ol' stuff... what else you got?

btw I know there are a couple of people on this froum who have BR in .454 and .480....

I have a Raging Bull in 454 Casull. Looks great and no problems with the way it functions, I really like the trigger as a single action. I have noticed that the sights seem to drift after about 20-30 rounds. Otherwise no problems.:)

the ruger redhawk weighs in at 50 oz- with the 7.5 inch barrel- i've shot the raging bull in 454 casull, and the difference in weight is in the barrel- and that porting is a blessing too- i'm almost scared to try the ruger super redhawk in 454 , but it might be ok- although it's got a 9.5 inch barrel and non-ported in factory mode, the ruger site says it also weighs in at 50 oz-which makes me go huh?-

I don't know if it's been imported into Canada, but I've always wanted to check out the .22 Hornet revolver Taurus made

I have a RB in 489, real men only please. It's as good as and S&W or ruger (fit and finish), maybe even better. I have had a number or revolver or the years, SA and DA. Buy one, you won't regret it. SIR carries the complete line and funny enough their prices ar fairly good. I plan on getting one in 460 SVR, dear god! I might not hit the target, but I'll make it cry like a baby!

I bought a model 83 Taurus years ago...cheap...but was particular to the S & W I carried at 'work' for the money you cant beat the taurus....fit and finish is a wee bit lackluster...but if your 12(6) cheap smiths abound
